The SBT90.2 really needs a massive reflector and 30+ Amps of power. It's handicapped quite a bit by the shallow reflector and driver (and by the small body for dissipating that heat). What that does however, is turn it into a type of combination beam that's quite useful in the distance under 300M, especially if it's paired with a TIR or an OP reflector. Moreover, you can drive it at reduced power (10-15A) and it'll still obliterate most LEDs. But its dominance is really seen beyond 2000+M. I love the SBT90.2. But if you don't have the right host and power configuration for it, it's wasted in all that heat and dispersed beam.... In this type of host, the SFT40 is king.

I would disagree that the sbt90.2 isn't useful in smaller hosts. I have a custom Weltool T2 with the sbt90.2 and the head diameter is 26.6mm. What that does is that it creates a great mixed beam for daily usage but also an awesome beam for self defence as you will not miss your target even from closer distances with the bigger hotspot and you have 4300lumens to obliterate that threat. The thing still pushes light to around 480m and you can manage the heat with the programmable VN4driver easily. I've set mine to 11 seconds turbo and the thermal stepdown to 45 degrees celsius and this allows for the light to even be used as one mode 100% only, as it will keep the high lumens and candela for 11 seconds and then it will stepdown to a 15% of power output and won't even get hot at all, just warm, which with the sbt90.2 15% is still amazingly plenty for everyday use and it still outperforms similar 18650 S2+ sized hosts on turbo. Or you can quickly change to a daily mode like a 1%/15%/100% no memory depending where you are and what you are doing.
Where the sbt90.2 shines in such a small host is for the tactical/self defence aspect, if you plan to use your light as such you don't care about maintaining full output for longer periods of time. You just need it for bursts and i would argue that the sbt90.2 led is the best and most powerful choice to have in a pocketable Tactical/EDC/Self defence light like the T2

I have the Osram CULPM1 in a couple of flashlights, its a great looking white tint and has not much tint shift. I find other LEDs have that fried egg look but the CULPM1 does not. Also better battery life with it being lower lumens and amps while out throwing the others.

Definitely prefer the SFT40 over the CULPM1. Nicer tint (just) great throw and more usable light in the mid range

I would disagree that your sbt90.2 version isn't manageable for edc use. Since you got it from Skylumen it should came with a customisable driver like the VN4 Driver. So you can do pretty much anything you want with it. My favourite 2 modes from it are the 1-1 and the 3-5. By that i mean since you need 10 clicks to get into customizable mode i dont really count those, i just madly half tap the light till it stops blinking and then i am in customizable mode. from there you can go 1 click and then another 1 click to get to 100%(only turbo), or you can choose the 3-5(moonlight-15%-100%) for edc uses. All you have to do then is to memorize those 2 numbers, 1-1 & 3-5 and then you can swap between edc and tactical in a matter of seconds. I've written down my favourite modes on a piece of paper that i've attached around the battery i use on my T2 sbt90.2 so now i have a mini manual for the VN4Driver in my battery if i want to change to other modes that i may not remember or to adjust turbo timer or the thermal regulation. For example in my T2 sbt90.2 i've adjusted the turbo timer to stepdown after 8 seconds and then i adjusted the thermal limit to 40 degrees celcius. With those settings i make the T2 fairly safe to only use it in one mode like 100% cause the stepdown will happen soon and then the light output will drop to a reasonable 15% in 30 seconds and thats another way you can have 2 outputs 15% & 100% by only using your light at 1 mode(100%). If you ever need again the full output you just turn off and on the light and you get back to 100% for another 8 seconds. You can make those 8 seconds 20 seconds if you wanted to... Plenty of options to do whatever you want with it. Cheers

It's reasonably priced. You do get more quality out of it. Better than Olight, Nitecore, Fenix that come similarly priced imo
