Im a chevy guy, Ive always wanted a fox just to put flows with an offroad H pipe on it. I love chevys but there is no better sound than a fox with flows on it.

I used to have an 87’ 5.0 hatchback with a B303 cam, off road H pipe, and 2 chamber flowmasters. Absolutely best sounding exhaust. I miss that car dearly and regret selling it, but I may get another one soon to bridge the gap!

The original 2 chamber Flowmasters sounded the best on the 5.0 Mustangs. I sold a metric ton of those 2 chamber Flowmaster mufflers from the mid/late 80's and all the way through the 90's for the 5.0 crowd. The later stuff never sounded as good as the original 2 chamber mufflers. The other day I talked to one of my old customers that still works on 5.0 stuff and he had a couple of the original hand welded steel 2 chamber muffler in their factory boxes for a future project, he knows nothing sounded as good as they did.

lol, yeah we were, what you didn't see is that we adjusted the rear breaks too tightly and ended up frying two wheel cylinders, rofl. Oh well, quick repair and fix.

I put stainless offroad x mid pipe 2.5" with 10's. It really wakes these cars up. Arent the 4 cats indicative of it being a cali car?
X pipe is fun too. Actually the 4 cats were standard on all 5.0's.
I'm guessing this is for young guys 'cause we kinda did this comparison oh ... 35 years ago or something like that. Flowmaster pretty much EXISTS because of the 5 litre Mustang.
Mainly doing it to document my daughters 86 transformation, but yeah the flowmastes have been around for a long time.

I use the 87-93 kid and it worked on the 86, not sure about older 4 eyes though.

Nice. You are motivating me to deal with my 86 LX coupe with its blown out glasspacks and rusty tails. It does sound good but, its wrong that its so crap condition.
That was also a classic setup. I'm sure some flowmaster would be fun too though. Glad to hear we're motivating.
You'll likely hate the drone on the highway. I got rid of my Flowmasters and went with Dynomax and two cats on the H-pipe.
Could be right, might go back to stock H-pipe. Man the drone with no tail pipes connected was brutal though. I like Dynomax too.
I'm confused on what a 40 series is vs the American thunder mufflers. I have a 93 foxbody gt with the stock exhaust and I mean smog pumps, cats mufflers etc.etc.etc. I'm not taking any of that off because I want to be able to pass state inspection. My question is which is louder the 40 series or the American thunder? I want to be able to just bolt the mufflers on and not have any welds that will crack and come loose.
I want to say the 40 series = American Thunder, and then the louder one is the super 44, but back in the old days we talked about chambers, with one chamber being the loudest , then two, then three, but honestly I'm not sure anymore.

A x-pipe will sound better with stock engine! I can send a video of difference. the X-pipe is much better until modified or for a larger motor like a 351C and 351w
I believe you, just had the H-pipe lying around so I like free lol.
I plan on getting that same exhaust next year. Get rid of these Pypes and get the real Mustang sound. CANADIAN SUPERMAN APPROVES

Mufflers shouldn't affect emissions. A different mid pipe might though.

hey cool mustang. As a teen about to get his license, how would you recommend this car from a parents perspective? i love the way the foxbody looks and sounds just not sure how practical it is in the day to day. Cheers
I had my daughter drive on a VW Jetta 2014 for about 1.5 years before given her this. I had to feel comfortable that she was a solid defensive driver first. It doesn't have modern safety equipment which is a concern. However, it's not very fast either being stock and an auto. I probably wouldn't recommend a FoxBody for a first car in general, but for the right kids it could be ok.

I used to think flows sounded good.
Then I went stright through design way better zero drone.
And sounds mean when you get on it.
Chamber muffler are to windy sounding and tone really dosent change as going up through the revs.
Stright through design shows keeps tone as you go through the range from mean to screaming
