If it was an album released in the past 10/20 years, the artwork would be underwhelming. Since it was released in 1939, I'd say it was ahead of its time. Looks really modern 👍

I think it's stupid that they included that just because it was the first album cover ever. Could you imagine someone putting the first movie on their top 100 movie list or first book on their top 100 list or first anything on any ranking of art. If Rolling Stone put the Hurrian hymn on their top 100 song list that would make everyone confused and pissed. It really was just there for novelty and nothing else. Just proves fantano's point that this list was filled with pure filler. Also it really doesn't great and boring as hell compared to countless classics that were snubbed from the list.
the only problem i really see is the angle of the sign is off, just taking another picture would make it look way better . also the lack of 2024 level photo editing but can you really blame them for that
Melon isn't wrong, this looks terrible. It has too much text in it. Barely any color. No composition. Where exactly am I supposed to look at? All good album covers have a focal point. What music genre is it even? Looks like a jazz record, even then it doesn't give me a clue how the album sounds like.
I think it looks fine personally, not in the top 100 of all time but not terrible either. Album art is very subjective like most art is, which is why this 'definitive' list of "best album art" is stupid.
