Song Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
One, two
One, two, three
Huh
I was born in a house with the television always on
Guess I grew up too fast
And I forgot my name
We're in cities at night and we got time on our hands
So leave the driving to us
And it's the real thing
And you're rolling
In the blender
With me
And I can love you
Like a color
TV
[Chorus]
And now love is here
C'mon and try it
I got love for sale
Got love for sale
And now love is here
C'mon and try it
Got love for sale
Got love for sale
[Verse 2]
Huh, huh
You can put your lipstick all over my designer jeans
I'll be a video for you
If you turn my dial
You can cash my check
If you go down to the bank (down at the bank)
You get two for one
For a limited time (a limited time)
Push my button
The toast pops up
Love and money
Gettin' all mixed up, whoa
And now love is here
C'mon and try it
I got love for sale
Got love for sale
And now love is here
C'mon and try it
Love for sale
I got love for sale
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
[Chorus]
Now love is here
C'mon and try it
I got love for sale
Got love for sale
Now, now love is here
C'mon and try it
Got love for sale
Oh, got love for sale
Now love is here
C'mon and try it
I got love for sale
I got love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love

The story of my life
My internet back in the day
"Damn that television, what a bad picture"
Scroll through your social media feeds while this song is playing, on another tab. The effect is the EXACT same thing as this video.
Talking Heads are LIGHT YEARS ahead of us all.
They were the last rock band. Rock died when they broke up.
Talking heads is slowly becoming my favorite band
After watching a bit of stop making sense and going down a bit of a rabbit hole, I agree
slowly is the wrong word usage! speed that shiz up
David Byrne is an underrated genius of the music, someone who was ahead of his time.
Guido Matias agreed he was weird and artistic 30 years before Lady Gaga started doing it
After seeing Stop Making Sense, I agree!
Too bad he doesn't know how to be human or kind or compassionate or sharing
@@anthonypicco7811 Yeah yeah.
@@anthonypicco7811 How long ago was that?
That bass drum on this song is so massive. Love that thumping bass drum sound
Missed David Byrne and Talking Heads at their peak but a friend put me on to them and I have become a great fan. One of the greatest bands.
Its never late!!!!
I had just got into them and saw them at Merriweather for the little creatures tour
They are a brilliant band and were so ahead of the times. They remain one of my favourite bands and after all these years of listening to them i seam to appreciate them more and more as time moves on. Did you also listen to the Tom Tom Club, again they were ahead of their time.
There was no Little Creatures tour... Last ever show was the Speaking In Tongues tour in New Zealand 1984@@nealzo007
@@maggieblyth2077 They were OF their time. I was there.
If not for Mtv, the Talking Heads would have stayed a little hidden gem
This band was way ahead of its time. Brilliant sound and image was truly authentic
They were OF their time. I was there. I still live there (musically).
And David's imagination is why their videos are so awesome
If they thought corporate advertising and power was an issue in the 1980's...
That is just the beginning.
🔥 🔥 🔥 Everything is fine! 🔥 🔥 🔥
It's actually more of a celebration. If you've watched the movie (which I highly recommend doing if you haven't), the whole film is about the beauty in everything, from warehouses to advertisements!
@@liamjones-tran6179 its called making the best of a bad situation... on obese women dancing on stage is not a good thing my friend.
@@Nat3_H1gg3rs Y- you can hear from David Byrne himself, lol.
Clicked for the pizza. Stayed for the jam.
TeeHee!!!
@Billy Batts jam and jelly are two different things. Jelly is made from just the juice, jam is made from the cooked fruit. Both are considered preserves.
😅
A fudge covered Tina Weymouth is the ultimate treat 😍

They were way ahead of their time! Great band!
Hey you might like a band called The Doublejumps if you like Talking Heads
@@MassiveFish-hp4pmAlso, Data Rock is heavily influenced by Talking Heads
* dials number * *"Hi, I'd like to order 100 chocolate David Byrnes, thanks."*
Haha, yes please
They should have made that a thing. With the Chris and Tina packaged together of course.
More & more chocolate indeed!
Don't forget to try the Jerry.
Delicious!
Favourite.
Talking Heads rule forever
Have so many Talking Heads faves. So hard to decide which is the best one though!
The best Talking Heads song ever is ? Whatever you think it is Just something I believe in when people try comparing Whos the best at literally everything
I love how the Talking Heads don't look like a band. They look like 4 random people.
That was so rare in the 80s, the golden age of MTV. Everybody had to have A Look. Talking Heads had weirdness on their side, though. And sometimes a giant white suit 😄
It's funny that what was a critique of advertising is now a time capsule.
It's both right? I was surprised how some of these ads are just the same today, (like the whole chocolate-falling-into-waterfall-of-liquid-chocolate gimmick.)
What a blast from the past; the 80's music, thankfully I get to watch it here.
richie p Canfield’s Diet Chocolate Sludge.
It's not a critique, it's a celebration!
Joe Blow Commercials like these are a great look at pop culture back then
The year is 2245 and Talking Heads is still a must one ....
Light years ahead of their time.
Hey you I think you would like a band called The Doublejumps if you like Talking Heads
Talking Heads don't just consume African rhythms, they are inspired by them and take them in as part of themselves. Love this video so much. It makes me want to make music too.
this vid is 100 years ahead of its time
Jerry singing in the shower. 🤣😍
Jerry in general😂

This might be my new most favorite song and video ever... I was stuck on "Road To Nowhere" for a while, not even having listened to this album or seen the film... I'll be 40 in a couple of months... my parents used to play some TH stuff growing up, but never deeper cuts, always the same hand full of "Top 40" hits.... I now feel like I've been robbed of this audio and visual experience for a large chunk of my life now.... this album lives on repeat for now....
Hey you might like a band called The Doublejumps if you like Talking Heads
I swear I know exactly what You mean! I have been "rediscovering" them in a much deeper way lately...like obsessed.
I remember listening to them as a kid and then being the first band that I really connected with.
Now I'm listening to their deep cuts on repeat... And being crazy over "Air" and "Artists Only" especially the live versions... And don't even get me started on Houses in Motion... Hahha
Thanks David Byrne. Last time I searched for this on CZcams, it wasn't here.
I love the guitar tone in this song so heavy🤘🤘
This is song is prophetic and full of a doomy, gloomy outlook on our blatant consumerism. It reminds me of Devo's "Beautiful World". Seems so benign and sunny. It's not. This song is a warning. The video is PERFECT at broadcasting its true meaning to anyone wanting to understand what's really going on. On the musical side though, this song just infects my ears and I GET ADDICTED. I could play this song dozens of times per day and have over the years many, many times. That riff IS OUTMATCHED NOWHERE.
Thanks for explaining to us this video is about consumerism, Professor.
@@tomcarl8021 :D :D but .. is it really?
Agree!
It only took me thirty-two years to see this ended up a video on it's own. Thanks, David.
Saw this video once when it came out. Completely forgot about it until a few weeks back when I saw True Stories and there it was. Great song, loved the movie, thanks!
My brother turned me on to the vinyl, took later that year to see the film.
David is a genius, as are Chris and Tina and Jerry. Learn their last names. They are all amazing artists.
David Weymouth, Tina Harrison, Chris Byrne, and Jerry Frantz 😎
@@iwillberightzack No? Dude, it's obviously David Harrison, Jerry Byrne, Tina Frantz and Chris Weymouth.
Get it right.
A classic song but I've never seen this video before, dismantling the consumer society.
Talking Heads is a legendary band
I didn't know this song has a video! Loved it so much
If you haven't seen this movie, you really owe it to yourself. The entire thing is incredible.
Truly a funny video. Great fun. Some of these old commercials sure bring back some fond old memories.
Pop culture from the past. I tried Diet Chocolate Fudge soda. Sludge is more like it tastes like.
I think you missed the point of the song
Hell of a riff !!!!
I've been love this song for a long time but I finally watched music video for the first time. This is AWESOME !!
The 80s are awesome 😎😎
Genious Band of the 80's.Simply Amazing.Incroyable vraiment.
This guitar sounds perfecttly.
this song sends shivers everywhere
After watching the video for "Road to Nowhere" I forget that the Talking Heads were an 80s band lol
70's band
Talking Heads best phase/auge in 80s albums
That's a high C# he hits on "love is REAALL"!!
I've loved this song for so many years, and this is the first time I've seen the video. So many memories holy shit.
Masterful video, wonderfully done, loaded with obvious images of crass commercialism - and a killer song that's instantly likeable - and yet it is still just a silly love song - as all the best songs mostly are! For the opposite sentiment, go see Van Halen's "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" - another song of pure genius - just as crass as this one, and yet darker in tone. Love them both!

FANTASTIC!
Yes! indeed! The best video of the 80's no doubt about it GENIUS! from planet

Excelente canción y excelente video, no pierde vigencia , Talking Heads otra banda gloriosa de los 80 !!
So good
Awesomeness!
The irony that I had to click off ads before this video started has not escaped me.
Very show this clip, not tired of watching, song and very current melody with the contemporary days.
God i miss the 80's... i'm proud i was a teen in that era.
Coolest movie ever True Stories if you haven't seen it 🤪
my favorite Talking Heads song
I LOVE THIS SONG
great song!
I think is a great video
And the song to!
@@user-hx4kv4be3g היו ממש טובים..
it sounds experimental even in 2024
And then the chorus hits and it’s pop all the way. It’s so good. When it came out i was a teenager and was into their albums Remain in Light and Speaking in Tongues. I thought True Stories was baffling (though i liked the film). This song hit me hard immediately though. The punk guitar riff and badass rock sound. The film and album have grown on me over time. The film especially, there’s something magical about it.
This video makes me want to go buy some Oreos.
and where has this video been all my life
I wish chocolate Talking Heads were real.
My favorite TH video
Video Géniale !
Having a right angle bath loving this song.
I loved the 80 great vid

I grew up with the tv on. I haven't watched one in my house in 15years
Oui! Monsieur Byrne indeed!

We have always loved that video and nowadays we can show it to our students.
Greetings to American citizen David Byrne.
Hey you I think you would like a band called The Doublejumps if you like Talking Heads
Some more brilliance from the TH… 😊
I KNEW IT WAS GONNA BE LOVE FOR SALE!!!
Very catchy song 😊
i still don't understand why this song didn't get that much radio airplay back in the day. i bought this cd when it first hit the stores, i even bought the movie. to me, this is the best song on this cd/in the movie. i was happy to learn that most of the movie, if not all, was filmed here in dallas. i also remember that the blonde twins that were in the movie (very small extra part) were the blonde twin high school cheerleaders from my high school, they were a year or two ahead of me then, didn't know them personally, just knew of them. i still don't know why it wasn't played that much on the radio.
completely agree. this song is a barn-burner. ADDICTIVE.
the chocolate dipped people always creeped me out lol
They literally gave me nightmares when I was a little kid in the 80s / early 90s.
Looking good David. Great job on "This Must Be the Place" movie!!
