    Ok, this video is awesome. I love this kind of video. These really are some ambitious teams, and that’s great to see. Older gens are often less approachable in part because it can be really hard to understand what non-standard Pokémon do and what’s really worth using. This video has already really fleshed out my understanding of DPP, and I’m pausing to write this before I watch the second half.
    This feels like as good a place as any to ask about Cradily in DPP. Cradily is my favorite Pokémon ever, and I’ve heard that DPP is the Gen where it’s the most OU viable (even if it’s still really bad). What’s your take on Cradily in DPP? What would you pair it with outside of the obligatory sand setter? Do you think that it has a genuine niche at this point in the meta?
    I’m glad that you’re making so much content, especially due to how awful Sw/Sh has gotten. I’ve gotten into ADV OU because of your content, and it’s become my favorite tier that I’ve ever played. I just wanted to thank you for making such awesome, informative content.

      thanks so much for the kind words! I was a big curse cradily fan around 7 1/2 years ago and spammed it in a lot of tournaments, as did a few other players. it was an excellent fit on bulkier spiking teams. it dropped off once breloom became even more insanely popular, but with loom going down in usage and all the clef stuff we're seeing right now, dily might have a niche after all.
      here's a log from fall 2012 of my beloved old dily team in a tournament battle: pastebin.com/XJiv9dvW

    At 50:28 you mentioned Venomoth, which caught my attention since it's literally the first time I've ever heard Venomoth being mentioned in the scope of DPP OU at all. Could you elaborate on what its potential merits would be / how you would want to run it (outside the obvious inferred Toxic Spikes)?

    • @BKCplaysPokemon
      @BKCplaysPokemon  Před 4 lety +18

      Venomoth @ Focus Sash
      Ability: Shield Dust
      EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
      Timid / Modest Nature
      IVs: 0 Atk
      - Sleep Powder
      - Toxic Spikes
      - Bug Buzz
      - filler (uturn, hidden power, stun spore)
      same speed as roserade. I prefer modest so its bug buzz threatens the hell out of even spdef-invested azelf (which won't be running sash). shield dust means it doesn't get flinched by jirachi's iron head or confused by machamp's dpunch. machamp needs to run the rare combo of lum berry + stone edge (rare even on sash) to beat it.

It's good for me to pass some time.

    Out of curiosity on the 2nd team, is there a reason why you didn't add 20 speed evs to tentacruel to outrun max speed adamant breloom or other base 70s same with jirachi? Personally i like the peace of mind of worrying about breloom less even if there's a Zapdos on my team

    • @BKCplaysPokemon

    Seeing Cresselia in the thumbnail reminded me of this. Does anyone know why Game Freak/Nintendo decided to highlight Doubles as the official tournament format over singles?
    Is it stall being more difficult? The generally quicker matches? Personally, I've always preferred singles more but was curious if anyone knew more about the thought process behind it.
    Love ur vids BKC, you are elite and unique.

    • @aleclapierre6020
      @aleclapierre6020 Před 4 lety +12

      From what I’ve figured, it’s a combination of what you suggested and possibly to showcase some unique aspects that doubles offers. But primarily, for an irl base-game tournament, time is arguably *the* feature that really decides what is feasible - between venue hours, and the number of matches people need to play in a day/weekend. And because doubles matches not only have better counter play against stall but also have only 4 Pokémon, 2 attacks per turn, and generally fewer turns of just switches (I.e. long animations and no damage), doubles really become the only format that makes sense. If the Pokémon company wanted to run a singles tournament, it would have to be the weird bring-6-pick-3 format, which I believe is too volatile and, again, stall-prone.

    • @aleclapierre6020
      @aleclapierre6020 Před 4 lety

      zaaya my bad - I actually don’t know much about the 3v3 format and just assumed it more closely resembled 1v1, but it makes sense that fewer switch in options would mean fewer viable stall strategies

    In the double dog team with the scarf rose lead, how is rose supposed to be played? Especially against azelf? Sleep powder and switch or leaf storm twice (tspikes doesnt look like an option because azelf alive with potential sash up sucks)? Not playing rose myself especially not the scarf variant so I'm curious on how it works in difficult matchups.

    • @BKCplaysPokemon
      @BKCplaysPokemon  Před 4 lety +5

      definitely sleep and switch. scarf sleep can get you off to a really good start against stuff that relies on outspeeding rose to stop it (azelf, jirachi, aero).
