American Artist Rashid Johnson on Success and Healing

Artist Rashid Johnson rose to prominence at the age of 24 when he showcased intimate portraits of Chicago’s homeless. His works, ranging from installations to films and paintings, are now in the permanent collections of many established institutions including MoMA and the Whitney museum.
His first solo exhibition in Asia titled “Nudiustertian” explores the times we’re living in.
“Covid, of course, being at its center this moment where we're really kind of brought into our own interior thinking and removed to some degree from collective engagement and some of the work that I'm making gives a storytelling platform to some of those fears and some of those desires and some of those wants and needs,” says the artist.
Johnson has achieved a lot of commercial success over the years, with some of his works going for millions of dollars.
