How To Replace Serpentine Belt Tensioner 2004-08 Nissan Maxima

    The serpentine belt tensioner ensures the serpentine belt is making enough contact at the proper tension with the component pulleys on the engine. A failed tensioner can result in slipping or breaking belts, which will ruin your day! This video shows you how to install a new serpentine belt tensioner on your2004-2008 Nissan Maxima.
    This process should be similar on the following vehicles:

    Nice video somehow the nut on top to tighten is out on top of the plate and just got both belts replaced don,t know how the mechanics working on it missed that now squeals like crazy not sure if should bring it back for them to fix or just go ahead and do it myself you made it look simple enough thanks.

    I’m certainly not red seal certified but unless I’ve been getting it wrong for years, this doesn’t look like an avalanche. If it is, I think I replaced the air cleaner with an alternator.
    Still love the channel. LOL

    What to do if the 14mm tensioner nut is rounded/stripped. Im trying to cut it at this point.

      I cut mine off with an angle grinder. Bolt was rusted and rounded pretty badly. Then I just replaced the pulley.

    Is the tensioner hydraulic? The mechanic that I took it to said it was and charged me $298for just the part. Is this normal?
