    I just did one 01/21/21 he didn’t say take the nut of the tension pulley before you mess with the tension screw. Also when I pulled tension pulley off there was a spacer behind it that fell off, lucky I’m mechanic smart. The trick I use to get bottom bolt in, I first put the top screw in that way you Have a swivel. After that I went to tire side and place a small screw driver in hole to keep it align. I have a extended magnet I use to hole the screw and I went in by the manifold. Look real careful you’ll be able to see hole. Once I got in the hole I got a long screwdriver to place behind bottom screw. While holding screw with screwdriver I went to pass side and moved alt back and forth while pushing it and it went through a breeze. Also the way the took that alt out I know they damage the fins of radiator. It’s a very tight area take your time. Also fan don’t just pull straight up it got caught on battery and the upper hose housing!

    Great video guys. I live in New England and we just got (another) 6" of snow and ice. My stepdaughter has an 05 Maxima that broke down last night. I was able to jump it and get it back to the house. Had to jump start it twice on the way home but got it back none the less. I checked the voltage on it today and it was hovering around 10 volts with the lights and heater on. It took me a few minutes to even find the alternator. I thought about doing this myself but after seeing your video and factoring in the winter weather I think I'll defer. Once again thanks for the tutorial! :)

    Did this job on my maxima going at it from the top as shown in this video. Originally was going at it from below but ran into a hitch with the top right bolt on the A/C compressor. It would not break no matter what I went at it with: breaker bar, bolt extractor socket, impact socket, etc. 100% recommend if you need to replace your alternator, to remove the fans and go at it from above. Saved $300 mechanic quote on a job that took me about 30 minutes.

    They never warn you to watch out with the radiator. 1 bang on it and this annoying job turns into a new radiator as well

    • @HailAnts
      @HailAnts Před rokem

      This is why you should just remove the radiator and the cooling fans as one unit. You have to drain the coolant, but the extra room it gives you makes the whole job a lot easier!

    I just had the alternator replaced on my 2004 Maxima but the car is not the same. It’s shaking and the check engine light came on. When I went to pick it up at the Goodyear shop he asked if I had smelled smoke. I said of course not. The car’s brake and battery light went on and then it died on me and that’s why I had it towed to Goodyear. By the way they charged me $700 to change alternator. 😢 I know this doesn’t cost so much. He said some wires were melted behind the engine. I took my car home because I don’t know what they did. Again my car died on me in the street and there was some smoke and burning smell. I had to have it towed to another shop. I got 3 codes for the check engine: P0303, P1615, P1610. Can someone please give me advice and tell me what went wrong? I don’t know what to do. I’m so upset 😢 I love my car but I have spent so much already. I can’t find an experienced mechanic who is honest. Is the new alternator causing the issue? Is it electrical? Hope someone can help. I would really appreciate it.

    bro, I'm going to try your way. I don't really want to empty out the entire radiator and have to refill and bleed it. Hopefully I don't dent the radiator fins in the process.

      Plus you risk damaging the radiator when pull the alternator out against it!
