- After partying up with some cool Bros for one last session of classic Halo 3 matchmaking, the servers are shut down before our very eyes. Cheers to Bungie, thanks for all the memories.

Growing up people us too all say "Its just a game" But its times like these where the end of an Era really shows that its just more than a silly game.....
Too bad the bad outweighs the good. If wasn't all good. These last couple of years was the worst experience I ever had, especially with cheaters.
And what’s crazy is that “ it’s just a game “ is what made us happy 24/7 through all the times than actual people irl

Halo 3 was my first MP game ever, so when I heard it was shutting down I cried a little. Grown ass 30 year old crying. Wish I could of got on before the servers went down. GG Spartans. Thanks for the games and memories.

God, today was heart wrenching to say the least.

Actually I did, Halo 3 wasn't the same to play anymore since Reach came out with that damn server upgrade, and the last couple of years were a miserable experience on the Xbox 360.
I was in that last game [tallboigamer] and it was a hell of a run. It may be the end of an era but the memories will last forever 💚
At least we got the remaster.
because of this I went on to halo 3 multiplayer on MCC for the first time on a server called drive or die, it was a lot of fun

I miss seeing and hearing this kind of banter. That was a key part of the classic Halo experience that you can't recapture with MCC.
It's also really sad to see all those lights finally go out.

I bet 343i couldn’t wait to do this. They are very anti bungie-halo.
Its not that they couldn't wait to do this, they didn't know how to maintain the netcoding that Bungie left them, it was falling apart. New problems, new bugs, etc. That and they didn't want to spend the money upgrading a game barely anyone plays. The netcode was also a mess from what I understand. But you don't know programming.
@@spirit_green why would they need to touch, upgrade/keep up with the “net code”? 😂 bungie already created/established the netcode when they made the complete game application. The moment bungie originally stopped supporting (halo 3 or reach) is the exact moment the “netcode” should’ve stopped being tweaked/stopped being touched (in other words no bugs or no new problem…why? Because nobody is modifying the production game itself anymore).
It takes effort for someone to modify a part of the game and create bugs or new problems (which is something 343i did with halo reach when they started touching that game for no reason…making that stupid TU playlist and what not.)
The game doesn’t necessarily have to be “shutdown” and I’m not complaining that they did shut it down because who didn’t see that coming anyway. They didn’t even touch the game itself when they did the shutdown. What they did was pure networking and that was either a couple things: (they shutdown an interface, unplugged the Ethernet/fiber cable or made it completely unreachable using Layer 3 logic)

I personally liked reach and 2 more, halo 3 felt sluggish to me and the guns were all nerfed to the ground except the shotgun and sniper.

@@Folfah have fun taking a minute to kill somebody, it’s shouldn’t take ALL 30 Rounds in the assault rifle AND you switching to the BR to kill somebody. All of the guns in halo 3 felt like nerf guns and they took ages to kill somebody. Halo 2 had one of the best TTKs imo but halo 3 nerfed EVERY weapon and made the game feel slow and sluggish. The campaign was amazing but the multiplayer wasn’t the best.

@@Folfah no I could kill people and drop 20 bombs, it’s not that I was bad, it just wasn’t enjoyable, like I said. They nerfed EVERY gun besides the BR. So that made everyone only use the BR. It wasn’t as fun as halo 2 or reach

Infinite is a good game, but it doesn't have 1/10th the content Halo 3 did. Halo 3 will always be the legendary title of the franchise.
