I think it’s just impressive in general what communities are doing in order to keep older games alive. The little big planet community on ps3 essentially recreated the entire server from scratch just to get level sharing and such working again, and there are people restoring Xbox live 1.0 for the original Xbox as well

The thing I love about OG Halo 3 (and old console shooters in general) is that everyone is on the same hardware, running limited fov+fps. No RTX 4080 240fps cracked sweatiness. Makes the game way more fun

@@Tronx431 abit of skill issue and hardware limited by sound of things. Even though you don't need a RTX 4080 to get 240FPS... Since I get 180 FPS on a 1050ti and RTX 3060... Since im CPU limited I cant get 180+ FPS as often.

Its good to see the 360 Dashboard again. Classic Halo (1-3) aesthetics were always the most pleasing for me to look at in terms of anything FPS. The modding community are literally gods in terms of gaming.
This is amazing, will definitely try to play this one. There is hope for these old online games after all even if company’s refuse to let us play. Long live the 360!

The 360 being "discontinued" is an absolute disgrace. it's going to always be the GOLD standard of Halo/Xbox. Therefore it should always be kept alive.

I recently gave one of my 9 year old students a copy of this masterpiece for him and his dad to make some memories. Now I gotta tell them about this server
I cried for days when halo 3 shut down, all of the memories and people i met. those memories were constantly racing through my head.
As someone who lives in a country where MCC matchmaking *never* got fixed, this is my only chance to play Halo 3 online. Might be hard to live with the resolution and framerate but this is my favourite online game ever. Very cool.

This brings back so many wonderful memories. Halo 3 will always be one of my top favorite games of all time. The online multiplayer is still the best I've ever played. It was damn near perfect! I remember playing online & having the time of my life in the campaign like it was yesterday. Just me & a 12 pack of Halo 3 Mountain Dew Game Fuel living the best Halo experience ever.

That’s so awesome. I have a similar situation where I never owned the game or Xbox live but always went to my friend’s house to play online.
Now if we could also bring back the online stat tracker. I loved looking at my stats online and showing my friends. Especially on Reach.

Honestly, same. Like, im one of the few that kept holding on hope thinking it get better. MCC is cool, infinite is okay, but the community will never be like how it was back around 2008. Im just glad i got to experience those times as a squeeker.
@@DRLZEcarumours have it that infinite is gonna turn into a sort of MCC in a way. They are bringing back all the weapons and sandboxes and gameplay styles (like movement and stuff) from all the past halos and putting it into infinite but obviously with infinites graphics and customization. There is actually a lot of hope of halo and the future is finally starting to look really bright.

Infinite doesn’t even have the physics to mimick an oh halo game.
And just look at the refueled playlist. They didn’t even just port over the old maps, but instead made them all way too big and larger.
Infinite can remake content, but it will never imitate the old games in any real capacity

This is the only polling option anyone is taking about. They would be moving all assets into the Infinite pool, but only utilizing them in specific playlists, ultimately tying them to Infinites progression.
“Refueled” is something entirely different, the entire purpose was to mimic the feel with modern mechanics.

I remember back when the game came out I would of been 11 years old. I was so hyped and just came from halo 2 multiplayer that was epic but halo 3 just has a soft place in my heart. i havent had a game or console yet that came close to gaming at the time. I'm not sure where gaming is going or what happening but It'll never be like a game old halo 3 game at 12pm playing lone wolf trying to hit level 40 and getting the achievement Kill two people with a spartan lazer!!

Well, if I ever want to buy an Xbox 360 and visit the amazing things I didn't get to experience back during the Xbox 360 days, then NOW I can anytime 😊.
I’ve played with a few of these players before and it was very pleasant. I used to be part of the Sunrise Discord but left cuz I rarely use Discord but I’m glad that this project is still alive and well. My inner 18 year old self oozes with excitement whenever I hop on H3 360.

Last time i played og H3 was one or two weeks b4 the shut down. And it was sick. even the flow of movement ant things felt different in contrast to the actual MCC version. Even Reach.
What i was regretting that i couldnt was 4 because my brothar selled our copy without asking me on buying it or something. I know is not very well recived but I think im one of the few who likes it

The Brute Choppers were so much better to control in H3… I walk right past them in Infinite

For anyone wondering why you'd want to do this instead of playing MCC. MCC on xbox is still pretty janky but generally still works. On PC, you're going against cracked pc players who can just destroy you. Since I use controller on pc, I get demolished in stuff like slayer. Having the option to play the 360 version of halo 3 keeps everyone on the same playing field.
I agree. I think MCC is cool but the aiming or aim-assist feels off. maybe theres a setting that needs changing, I'm not sure. But OG Halo 3 on the 360, where it all started, is the best way to go! 🔥✨

@@CobatineYTyou can change the aim mechanics from modern (which is the default setting) to classic.
Me personally I've been a PC player for over 20 years so it's ingrained in me to always look at something immediately, so when I transitioned back to controller after so many years of not using one, I jacked my horizontal and vertical to 10 and put my accel to 1 and practiced with those settings for months until it felt natural for me. Takes a lot of hours though lol. As that time goes on you get to really study how the aim assist works. It feels wrong at first and kind of annoying especially when you have to deal with more than one target, but having a high sensitivity makes it so you can combat against the aim assist in certain situations when you actually need to so that you can hit your headshot on the next target.
That’s why I only play on console.

theres people already unlocking online ones offline anyway, u wont get banned since this is xbox 360 game, just dont try unlock too many on same day

When you mod achievements try 1000 gamer score per day don't go over but at your own risk

Seeing Halo 3 Matchmaking for the Xbox 360 makes me and my 17 year old self cry tears of joy.
I have a Xbox 360 Slim, the same I used to play the past Halo games but unfortunately the Gamertag I played them with was hacked and had to activate my backup Gamertag.
When you said we need a modded Xbox 360, do you mean opening it and adding something to it or adding some through a thumb drive?

You only need a modded Xbox 360 to Host the matchmaking. You can get one online that’s already physically modded, but then must proceed setting it up and etc. 💯
And as far as I know, Microsoft doesn’t support Xbox 360 anymore, so this type of thing wouldn’t be technically seen. I’ve been playing countless times on my main, got a achievements and I’m fine! As well as many other players 💯✨

I've had some things where there is a very small clique that know they hold the keys to the city and behave accordingly.
@@zredeth3nz716the halo discord is toxic because some people get accused of stuff and then get banned from the server and get kicked out of games, so they just take the game away from people if they get the littlest bit of frustration if the game isn’t going their way

Maybe in the future, xbox emulators will be able to replicate this so it's not all tied to red ring of death hardware. The MCC is pretty decent but there's also Halo Online which is the closest you can get to Halo 3 on PC. Keep it around for convenience because there's no accounts necessary, or obnoxious size downloads, not tied to any account ecosystem. Perfect for Lan parties, or playing with the boys nice and easy.

It is smoother on MCC, but for some reason it dosent feel the same for gameplay. Also you don't get proper lobbies like you do here

Game nights with an exclusive community... That's not the same, may as well stick to MCC. Cool mod though. Won't be the same when it's just a bunch of us modding-capable people. The diversity of good and crappy players was a huge part of the 360 experience, that we will never get back. Not to mention, meeting a wide array of people from all walks of life. Squeekers, ragers, forge-junkies, edgy's. I had all of the above on my friends list and we had such a blast back then. Now I play and it's either people reliving the old days, or tryhards.
mcc is a bit too sweaty for me. I actually like having an exclusive community better, also playing the og game on the og hardware just hits different.

any discs will work, just need a host with modded xbox 360 with sunrise mod installed, Halo 3 mythic disc thats comes with Halo 3: ODST will work but cant access campaign on that disc.
