I just got mine, its amazing, I get almost 1000 Megs a second read / write. Not to mention the small size, good build quality and the fact that it has the software already on the drive out of the box.
last week I bought this Samsung T5 1TB SSD for €99,- on the Black Friday sale. 3 years earlier I already had bought the blue T5 500GB. Those have almost 8000 hours on the counter. And work perfect 100% error free Smart test. Incredibly reliable.
Good video, but I would point out that another reason to choose the more expensive SSD over HDD is durability. It's not just about speed, and if someone is looking for a drive for data backup they might benefit from knowing that solid state means no moving parts to fail... To say the only reason to choose an SSD over an HDD is a bit misleading IMHO. Otherwise I thought your video was great, thanks for the info!
I purchased this last week for my iMac 21.5 (2019). I was going to purchase the new iMac (M1) but now that I have the Samsung T7, I just saved myself at least $1500.00.

The only difference between the T7 and the touch is the inclusion of the fingerprint scanner for hardware encryption. Their build is also exactly the same. I’d suggest going for the T7, might as well opt for more storage if you needed to. 😄

Just ordered the 2TB version for my PS5, plan on using it as the home for all my non-PS5 games and possibly as cold storage for PS5 games. I’ve already installed an M.2 SSD in the expansion bay though so I doubt it will come to that 🙂
@@savedfaves basically cold storage is a place you store things in but don’t load them off of. Sadly you can’t play PS5 games off of external storage devices, you can only store them there and then move the file over when you want to play the game.
Would love for you to test this drive on a USB 3.0 (type A port) interface, specifically when it comes to file copy speed. I regularly copy files from my iMac and MBA to external mobile drives and would be quite curious to see the speeds of this using this drive. A 1.5 GB MP4 documentary file would be an ideal test file.

I haven’t had any sort of lagging issues with my T7. I don’t know about the Xbox, but if a faster SSD loads the game faster, personally I’d choose that. :-)

I've never had any disconnecting issues with the T7, if there really are a lot of people complaining about it, T5 is not a bad option either. I'd also consider taking a look at the Sandisk ones too.

Hey, the default file format is enough, you can use the regular usb A port or the USB C port. Both cables are included. I use the T7 to store all my footage and photos too. Works great. Just make sure you pick up large size.
I'm looking for a 2TB SSD for my iMac to run my active iMovie library. Would you suggest the Samsung T7 or the SanDisk Extreme Pro Gen1. Both have published transfer speeds of 1,000MB/S. I don't think I need the SanDisk Gen 2 which runs at 2,000MB/S. Thanks
If you’re on the go often and water and dust resistance is a plus point, go for the SanDisk, while I can’t vouch for the performance of the Sandisk, I use the T7 for my Final Cut Pro libraries and it works great, even after long hours of edits it still performs well.

Do you plan to use it exclusively on macOS or both windows and macOS? If only macOS I’d say use APFS, if not, best to leave it with its original format.
How did u get it to work with your Mac do you use it without a passcode ? Because of the Samsung app not allowing the fingerprint or passcode on Mac due to connecting problems
I don’t use a passcode, I just use it as a regular drive. I had some problems getting the app to detect it too, and I’m not too fussed about securing the drive so I let it be :-)
I got the 2TB version of this SSD. I put 2.1K of videos on it. I am going to Magic Island. I will find a free picnic table, flip open my Lenovo laptop, connect my SSD via USB-C, turn on my Sony Blue-tooth speaker, and entertain myself for 3 hours.

You can check on your MacBook by clicking on the drive where it shows up and pressing the space bar. Or you can two-finger click the drive and then press get info
So since it's fully compatible with Samsung phones I'm guessing just plugging it into a S20 ultra and transferring files shouldn't be a problem. Right? TFS I bought the SSD because when I’m editing videos, I need fast offline storage that I can edit directly to, and carry with me wherever I go. I should be able to plug into any device and have a copy of my data too. :-)

My pc has usb 3.2 gen 1 ports... Both type c and type a.... When i trasfer via type a cable the speeds are fine with 400 mbps speeds... But when transfer via type c cable,the speeds are maxed at 30 mbps... Is the cable faulty?

Yes, it’s compatible with android phones. I’d recommend getting a case for it, I’ve dropped it many times and had no issues, but I’d rather be safe

Yup! You can, they’ll stay at their original quality.

It works fine when I connect my t7 after opening the software .. and not when it's already connected before opening the software !

My pc has usb 3.2 gen 1 ports... Both type c and type a....
When i trasfer via type a cable the speeds are fine with 400 mbps speeds...
But when transfer via type c cable,the speeds are maxed at 30 mbps... Is the cable faulty?
Is your PC custom built? I can't think of any reason this would happen. Could you try another Type C cable and check?

Yes you should be able to use it to play movies off USB, why do you need the 900mAh though?
