Wow...this just popped up in my watch again list! Glad it did...great song, classic review! Deeper into the "privileged fucks like me" line...he's talking about living in a country where you have the right and are privileged to have that right to speak out about the faults of your government...where as in so many other countries, you end up in jail (or worse) if you speak out against your government. So...when you are priviliged enough to have that right, you should feel obliged to exercise that right.

This is an easy top 3 Propagandhi song of all time. Everything said from the point of "Yes, I recognize the irony..." onward are my favorite lyrics of all time....and there is zero sarcasm in there. The well placed fuck is also a 10 out of 10. Perfect placement, perfect use of the word.

not sarcasm, his privilege is living in a place with so much benefit for him while so many still suffer

Ahhhh!! Gosh dangit....Propagandhi is the friggin' best! This is definitely a top 5 Propagandhi song for me. Chris is such a master of metaphor and word play. The "play the man, not the puck" line is in reference to not getting sucked in by the flashy "puck work" that politicians or people in power use to keep us distracted from their true intentions or exploitations. The final lines of this song perfectly encapsulate what Propagandhi are all about....using their voice of privilege as straight, white dudes to speak up for those less heard. They don't just pay lip service though.....these dudes are (and have been for most of their 30+ year career) out there putting in the work in their communities and communities abroad.

Edmonton and Calgary both have Nhl teams. Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers. Both considered Alberta Proud. Propagandhi's use of words and intentions are so well put together.

The analogy he uses there is the Steve smith own goal incident in the game 7 of 1986 smythe series between the 2 teams.

I’ve been enjoying your reviews in the past week. Could you guys review Disbelief by Raised Fist? Or perhaps Betrayed by RKL?

If you like the hockey references in punk songs, check out Belvedere - "Two Minutes For Looking So Good". Another legendary Canadian punk band too.
