This attention gained by ACC leadership came from standards, and their enforcement being relaxed at Basic, then technical training, So as to appeal to the younger generation. In addition to a near weekly change of the dress and appearance AFI.

When I in-processed at Fort Bliss years ago, garrison had a whole committee of NCO's and civilians marshalling newcomers to complete their in-processing which was supposed to take 2 weeks. Long story short, I broke away, did it all in like 2 days. No one ever looked for me, and my unit was glad I was their ready to work.

Different military, same issues. Older generation want to run standards of a 1960’s military force, yet lower the standards of entry to try and fix recruitment and retention issues. It’s an oxymoron situation.

Damn, calling out fat generals. You guys are wild. I'm just a civilian, but I agree. As a leader, you should be fit AND capable. Yall have talked about "fat shaming" and body positivity before, and I love the perspective. Everybody should strive for physical fitness. What's more body positive than being fit?

Interesting military standards and military human performance qualifications requirements podcast discussion considering the Air/Space Forces presser (1July 2024) concerning the Warrant Officer Program and minimal expectation for these WOs to be leaders. Sort of undermines the push for enlisted joint PME and other enlisted leadership initiatives the Office of The Joint Chief of Staff has been pushing since 2000.
"In the enlisted and commissioned officer ranks, Airmen often have to take career breaks for leadership and development roles as they rise through the ranks. The warrant officer track offers a different path. "
""With perishable skills, like cyber, like IT, where the technology is moving so rapidly, folks who are experts in that can't afford to be sent off to a leadership course for eight or nine months:' Alex Wagner, assistant secretary of the Air Force for manpower and reserve affairs, said April 9.
Time spent in mandatory leadership roles can also hurt retention; Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall said in February ..."
So apparently the only importance of the WO rank is the big paycheck to acquire and retain slovenly, obese, and lacking in physical stamina Nerds for military IT and cybersecurity jobs.

As someone who’s shipping out in a week I’m glad at least someone is calling out people for being out of shape and being hypocrites. I won’t be able to do that for a looong time. And I’m hoping even once I’ve done some good time I can at least improve the people close to me.

Nobody snapped…It’s a problem throughout ACC!!! Basically the whole AF!!! I’m on Langley everyday and have seen the lapse in enforcing the standards. ACC Staff was put on notice, prior to this memo. It’s good to be retired and watch them all scramble to get back in compliance.

You as a CC Peach have lots of leverage if you can get the correct officer on the phone. You will get shit for not following the chain of command but you have to take responsibility when others around you do not.

Timeline 48:32. Great elite and being part of something special observation, but that everyone being and wanting to be elite and part of something special transformation ship left port in 1985 and this ship soon expanded to being several ships.
BTW, 1985 is when enlisted PME (Leadership) became mandatory requirement for award of commensurate skill level and enlisted NCO rank (i.e. demise of the SrA/Sgt paygrade being an NCO rank). E-5-SSgt is the lowest NCO rank (in perspective of an elite-special enlisted leader rank) in the Air Force enlisted force structure.
Also, Security 'Police' transition to Security 'Forces ' and subsequent establishing of Phoenix-RAVEN (MAC/AMC) and DAGRE (AFSOC) programs. EOD, Survival Instructors (SERE) also transitioned to being considered special.
