    I've just purchased one of these laptops - I've watched lots of reviews and yours is the best I have seen, dispelling any doubts I may have had about my choice. You've covered all the main points about this that a buyer needs to know about - thanks for a thorough and well presented review that doesn't waste time with a lot of padding.

    Thanks for the great review. I have the XPS 13 7390 ordered, but shipping is very slow at the moment. I have an older 2 in 1 that I rarely used the tablet mode so I decided to forgo that option this time. It was an HD display that was getting hard to read for my old tired eyes so I also opted for the 4K display. This is a close copy of the one I'm getting so much of your review should still be of value. Thanks.

    Your review of the Dell XPS 13 was understandable and very informative. Comparing my Dell 15 R3 to your XPS 13 is giving me buyers remorse. The features do not compare. The tablet mode pulled me in but, the pen just blew me away. As to the price; you get what you pay for. I would buy one. Thank you Shannon for your review.

      2. It sounds like you've had some issues with your machines, and that sucks. If you take a look at my YEARS of HakTip videos on the Hak5 channel, you'll see an xps13 in Every. Single. Video. That's the laptop I mentioned in the video, which I haven't had overheating problems with. Constructive criticism is welcome, but please leave the personal bashing at home.

    Hi Shannon. I am thinking of buying the latest XPS 13 2 in 1 (7390) of 32 GB RAM, 1 Tb and 4k screen. Do you think it's a good purchase or should I wait a few months? I just want to enjoy office work with great quality. But I have the doubt if it is worth a 4k screen in a size of 13 inches and that does not suppose a real increase in the quality of the screen, and it is better to opt for full HD resolution. What do you recommend me?

    just want to say that it was a great review. Probably this laptop is closer to the use-cases that you were thinking of with the Pixelbook Go for video editing, the stylus support and also gaming. Nice to see thunderbolt support which should allow eGPU functionality, although I think it depends on how many lanes are made available. This laptop is at a much higher price price point although it seems like Dell didn't skimp out with the premium features. It would be nice to see how compatible the laptop is with a linux distribution, although if I had the moola to afford the laptop, I probably would just try hacking it to get Linux to work in some way. I, for one, would like to see more tech product reviews in the channel in the future. Nothing against the travel vlogs !

    • @ShannonMorse
      @ShannonMorse  Před 4 lety

      Yeah, I'm definitely leaning more into the tech reviews. Doing vlogs here and there is moreso for my own benefit: to remember my own experiences and to practice editing in different styles.
      I haven't tried sticking Linux on it but given the Developer edition xps 13 laptop runs Ubuntu out of the box, this one probably would be fine. Might be finnicky in tablet mode.

    @3lackrecord Před 4 lety +3

    It’s a great review, I just wish everybody stopped talking specs and focused on the benefits of the tablet mode. Ur video is the only one that covers a little bit but never enough
    How does it perform with google chrome?
    Does it feel natural holding it with the keyboard on the back when in laptop mode?
    Can it do everything the same when in laptop mode but on the tablet side ?
    Does the keyboard come up like in a tablet when wanting to type instead of the actual keyboard?
    Those it freezes?
    Does the computer crash?
    That type of stuff
    Do you think u can do a video covering tablet mode only. Because 2-1 laptops are still very new and a lot of ppl as myself don’t understand yet
    Thank you. Everyone is right ur video is the best

    I have a Surface Pro 4 but really wanted the most powerful new machine at the best price. Although the Surface keyboard is good, this Dell is so much easier - I don't have to struggle to keep track of the detached keyboard. This dell is super well made and quite elegant. I am a teacher so I always have up multiple browsers with multiple tabs up and this Dell handles it all so easy. Oh and I usually have WORD and EXCEL running at the same time as well. I can take advantage of Multiple Desktops as well - you guess it: at the same time! The best part is that I never have to exit and restart programs. It NEVER slows down! I was a little worried about the two Thunderbolt ports ...no USB?? Ha! False worry! a little adapter and it is fine...and fast! The color screen (edge to edge Microsoft)blows my mind and everyone that sees it is wowed. I teach at an all-Apple district (don't ask) and I laugh when people ask if that's the new Apple Pro .... ha! This is so much better. I am in love with his machine!!! Mine has 32 gig and a 1T hard drive. Love you Dell!!!

      I'm in the middle of editing a feature length film on it, but all 1080, because it really struggles with 4k. Having said that, in 1080, it's been flawless, and I have well over two hours on my timeline. I have the i7, 16 gig RAM, 256 SSD inside, and I'm using a Glyph Atom 1TB SSD external drive via the thunderbolt port. It's handled everything extremely well, but we'll see what happens once I finish shooting and get to color correcting, etc...... that will be the test. I'm using Davinci Resolve, and the experience has been smooth with no hiccups at all thus far.
