I'm also a big fan of link click, but I've been into bsd for years so ig it's way more ingrained in me. Funny enough I thought similar about Heizous voice being similar to ranpo when he first came out (they aren't the same voice actor either I'm just obsessed with bsd and hear/see it in anything I like)

So, for what I understand, Vampires drink blood from other Vampires because that act itself is considered an equivalent to sex in this universe, this doing it with a human isn’t only dangerous but breed mixing. The fangs not only suck blood but also inject a substance that makes the receiver have pleasure so they aren’t in too much pain, in the case of Vanitas tho, I assume it’s partially that and partially that he likes to get his blood sucked off, it’s his kink of sorts lol

There's no indication Vanitas actually enjoys having his blood drank in general. That first bite was his martyr complex and control issues making him be a toxic little bitch, and then it turned out he enjoyed it, he himself theorises it's because he and Jeanne have literal chemistry because that's a thing.

Agreed!! The kiss wasn’t the right thing to do but is not like Vanitas was a totally stable character. He sees himself as a monster and so isn’t expecting anyone to fall in love with him. Also, he doesn’t know what love is. Both Jeanne and Noe are part of his journey to find that out.

Actually, Noe's power actually only works of he drinks DIRECTLY from the source, meaning, in order to read someone's memories, he needs to drink their blood intravenously. If he simply licks it or drinks it from a cup, he won't be able to read their memories.
This was explained in the manga and sub, I don't know why the dub didn't clarify it though. ALSO spoilers:
The reason why this is important to specify is because there will be a specific scene between Noe and Vanitas wherein Vanitas jokes that Noe can drink his blood if he gets it on his clothes. And why did Vanitas joke about it? It's because he doesn't want Noe to read his memories due to it containing important information that can possibly be dangerous.
So basically Vanitas is saying, "I'll let you drink my blood as long as you don't do it directly." Lol

Honestly alot of jeannes imagery is first love and innocent love and such, so like. With how vanitas lacked alot of autonomy and agency in his life, you can see clearly how that comes out in wanting control. And he likes that control with jeanne, but honestly there is alot of character growth and more insight into noe and vanitas and jeanne with all their like. Intricacies
I watched everything that the case study of Vanitas has to offer and let me just say that Vanitas is the most interesting MC I've ever seen
the foreshadowing and mystery of VnC all pays off sooooo well.. this is def one of those shows that you rewatch and go "omg i Get It Now", although admittedly it takes a good while for the dots to connect imo . still peak

another thing in the manga that isn't mentioned in the show, when the three of them make it to altus paris, he looks around at everything amazed and vanitas says "don't wander off.", domi says it's fine cause he's on a leash, and vanitas says "oh is that why it's there?".
so yeah i'm pretty sure the leash is literally just so that noé doesn't run around like a puppy
oh also, i don't really want to spoil anything, but the manga is a few chapters ahead of the anime, and the robot guy danny said he liked becomes a pretty important character. i definitely recommend reading the manga.

@Konoshy I definitely agree w you on the intentional reflection of his character. I don't think the anime (or even the manga sometimes) treats it with the weight it should- cue shoujo sparkles. Esp with the way it treats their relationship from thereonin. I know most fans are capable of recognizing the nuance but the moments where they genuinely start to 'fall in love' make me look back on this with even more disdain 😅 like yes Jeanne acknowledges he's "a horrible man" but the assault is rlly treated more like a goofy joke (to the best of my memory)
