    Great build-up, Karl, with a lush orchestration. Very traditionally Christmassy in the best way. I really enjoyed listening to this.

    This is honestly the most beautiful thing I've ever heard, and I'm more than grateful to be recommended this gem. The MIDI programming is absolutely stellar, and feels like its played by a real performance. Great job!

    • @karlaskmusic
      @karlaskmusic  Před 9 měsíci +3

      Thank you, Philip! I might do a walkthrough at some point. Most of the processing is done using EQ, mainly cutting low mid frequencies to prevent muddiness.

    hi, thanks for the awesome music and video. I have a question and hope you'll be able to answer it : do you first write out score on Finale or Sibelius, and then are able to import the score onto a daw and have it played by different plug ins, or how do you connect such a beautiful and precise score with other sounds than finale or sibelius ? I always thought you had to write the full score, and then, part after part, had to play it onto your daw...

    Incredible job!! What do you think about the harp that comes with Pacific Strings? I think it might fit really nice in this texture

    • @karlaskmusic
      @karlaskmusic  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Thank you, Logan! Actually I haven't really used the harp in Pacific Strings, but I should definitely check it out!

  • @winknotes
    @winknotes Před 9 měsíci +1

    How do you handle the logistics of playing in each part? Do you print the score and play from that? Everything for me starts (and currently ends) in Dorico but I'd be willing to invest the time of playing parts in some pieces if I could figure out how to deal with situating the charts. It's a dumb problem but that's my blocker.

    • @karlaskmusic
      @karlaskmusic  Před 9 měsíci

      I split the screen so that I have Dorico on one half and the DAW on the other. I play from the parts rather than the score so that I can display more of each part at a time. I hope this helps!

    Hey I wanted to get into scoring my music using sheet, do you score it in sheet and then afterwards edit the midi in a daw? sounds amazing btw

    • @karlaskmusic
      @karlaskmusic  Před 7 měsíci

      Thank you, Robin! I usually first sketch on paper (lead sheet style) and then do the orchestration in Dorico. I sometimes mock up a section in Logic right after I've finished orchestrating it, and sometimes I do the mockup only after I've finished orchestrating the whole piece. Either way, I always play the different parts into the DAW rather than importing MIDI from Dorico.
