Much love, stay groovy, and navaer melyn nin!
This is the kind of content I want from CZcams
Couldn’t agree more.
Facts
I hope you have checked out the red book then as well. His channel is really good too. His and this channel are probably the two most watched Tolkien channels I watch.
@@BeregondFirstCaptain wow have not seen that channel before! Thanks and subscribed!
I agree completely.
Gimli, I think, is the greatest dwarf to have lived. Not for courage or prowess in battle (which he certainly had), but for being a healer.
He healed the rift between Rohirrim and Dwarf.
He healed the rift between Galadhrim and Dwarf.
He built the bond between Gondorean and Dwarf.
And at last, Gimli stood before the Valar, first among dwarves.
I also must comment on the strength of Tolkien's work, that it inspires so many to such passion in its studies, as we see in examples like this video. Well done.
I just imagine Aulë hugging him with tears running down his face.
Two metals blended together can make a stronger alloy. Gimli, master smith!
@@maryeckel9682 Bless your bread, son!
instead of white noise these videos are incredible to get you to sleep. and i mean that in the best way possible. love the vids!
I agree. The intro can startle me a little bit though when a new video starts. But nothing is worse than a loud ad. Especially the ones that are like 15 minutes long unless you hit skip.
I find them comforting to watch just before sleep ⭐
Totally agree. Love them and they relax me and just let my mind drift.
@@forfun6273buy the CZcams premium, that is a necessity in my life
The dwarves had a important part to play in middle earth which sometimes been forgotten
Looks outside sees huge battle. It's still raining outside fellas
It also doesn't help that The Dwarves of Middle-Earth were the true Firstborn but their arrival was delayed because Eru chose the Elves as the Firstborn instead despite sparing The Dwarves' lives.
Love this channel - Dave does not just retell, he enriches your understanding of the lore by intertwining it with linguistics and the real life context of these stories - like the best university professor you ever had!
Thanks very much!

Do you think Eru Ilúvatar has one of those "I'm not the step dad, I'm the dad that stepped up" shirts with a bunch of dwarf stuff on it?
I think so.
Oh yeah, hour and a half of Dwarf lore. Gonna enjoy this over the next few days
why are they amde short? i hate that they are midgets
Although I am in my mid-thirties, I feel like a child getting told a fantastic story each time I watch one of your videos. My favourite is the story of Beren and Lúthien. It brings me to tears every single time, as I have found my personal Lúthien and lost her twice.
Loved the video. Sean Connery as a dwarf was quite the art piece. Glad you included Balin. He's my favorite.
I've grown tired of the other tolkien youtube channels, but 1.5 hours from you is always a blessing. Sending lots of love and fellowship your way dave 💖
nerd of the rings is also a nice yt channel
I watch nerd of the rings as well sometimes the broken sword
I'm glad to say that he was one of the first lotr youtubers I came across, so I didn't have to look elsewhere for much of anything!
I woke up this morning looking forward to seeing this video like a child on Christmas! Once again, I am sitting here smiling from ear to ear and cheering loudly 😂. You truly have a gift for presenting Tolkien in a way that pulls us into the story and takes the breath even though we know the outcome! Thanks for bringing a ray of joy and light to my off day!
Thanks! Im really glad you enjoy the video.
I agree. There is no one like Rainbow Dave. Dave is a true Tolkien scholar 😊
I love watching these while I poop
@@duncanramsay9262 Nice. 😙
Dave, you’re unbelievable. I love your videos. 1.5 hrs of dwarf lore 😍 One request though: could you do an audiobook of any of the Tolkien books? Love listening to you. Just hearing your hello and goodbye makes me smile every time😊 Thank you !!
I couldn't agree more. I can't help but feel like I would love an audiobook of The Silmarillion or Unfinished Tales as opposed to one of the three LOTR books. Maybe that's just me though.
@@Abcdefghiiii I like that idea as well. It would be wonderful to listen too.
@@Abcdefghiiii absolutely. I’d love that
@@Watthexe0815 me to. I would pay for it in a shut up and take my money moment.
@@Vegeta900X 😁 absolutely
Heck yeah! No idea when I’ll have time for this but I’m looking forward to it!
Balin is my personal favorite dwarf and I am so psyched that you have him on this list!
You're the greatest, Dave. Can't wait for Children of Húrin!
How can you not love Balin? Rhetorical question, he embodied everything positive about dwarves
14 seconds after notification.. i cried seeing it. I needed a video from you! Thank you
Daveee!! Dude, greetings from across the pond. I literally broke my ribs and am laying in bed like this sucks…. And you release another video! Thanks man~ love the content as always, you rock, much love~ wish I could speak elf!
Hope you get better soon, dude.
My personal favourites are Durin, Durin, Durin, Durin, Durin, Durin, Gimli and Durin
Anduril was forged by dwarves and elves and wielded by men. All three of the mortal peoples of Middle Earth united together to rid Middle Earth of the "undying" forces of evil. Fascinating. And a really cool illustration of just how deep Tolkien went into building his world.
Good to see you back rainbow Dave. Hope all has been well with you
"BARUK KHAZAD! KHAZAD AI-MENU!" 🔥 beards for life!
Keep up the great work RD!
For as long as I live, Tolkien's works will always be THE definitive examples of Dwarves in fiction 😊
I guessed almost all of the dwarves, not necessarily in order, though some of them, Thror, Thrain, and Thorin, were easily guessed after the first. I also guessed the ultimate dwarf.
This was great. I loved it.
Dwarves deserve more credit Middle-Earth would not be the same without them they are definitely more of a benefit to Elves and Men than is discussed
I feel an affinity for dwarves because they are hard working and loyal and I do love walking through beautiful caverns all lit up with stalactites. However, my ancestors were miners and they left that occupation at their first opportunity
why are they amde short? i hate that they are midgets . As for mining it is a brutal and tough occupation, anyone in an industrialized world would leave it at the first opportunity.
YYYYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS HE'S BACKKKKKKKK... and the subject material couldn't be better!!! Thanks Dave!!!!
Another superb job! Can't imagine the amount off love you put in these videos and Tolkien's world!
There sincerely is no other youtube experience like this one. These long-form videos are so appropriately reflective of Tolkeins legendary style of writing. I feel as if I've embarked on a new journey into a familiar world.
A sidenote I've always found intriguing: despite the sacred significance of the reincarnated heirs of Durins namesake, not all of the seven play a particularly pivotal or influential role in the progression of the Dwarven race. Some live and pass on without any recognition in the annals of naugrim lore.
14:00 You mean Celebrimbor was turned into a ... Celebrimbanner?
(I'll show myself out now)
Wonderful to see you back! Thank you for the great video!
eru dammit
That is the best comment ever. Celebrimbanner!!!. That's messed up, but funny
Good. You're back
Yes!
Hello Friend! What a special treat! Thanks for your hard work!
Welcome back Dave! I've been looking forward with great anticipation to your return and as always, you never disappoint. Loved this video focusing on dwarves. Thank you so much for all your deep dives into Tolkien's lore, your efforts are greatly appreciated. So very glad to have you back, you were sorely missed.
I was so ready for the classic booming Rainbow Dave, “NUMBER TEN!” But it was just, “Number ten.” 😆
Another excellent and entertaining video. Well worth the wait.
🎉❤HURRAH!! End of the long fast. But it was soooo worthwhile. This has made my day and my week!!
Yes Dave I have to agree with many of the comments. This is a wonderful lore video regarding these amazing Tolkien characters.
Love the long videos ❤
Thank you! So looking forward to this.
An absolutely wonderful video about my favorite race in middle earth. Thank you for all your hard work, Dave. I look forward to the videos on CoH soon.
Best Tolken channel on the web. Keep it up.
Great video as always thanks Dave.
Can't wait for your series on Turin Turambar he's always been my favorite character in the legendarium.
The emotions that I get from these videos are just unbelievable. So many channels tell us the same facts, but there is nobody on CZcams who can draw the emotion like rainbow Dave does.
You are an absolute master storyteller and you really bring these stories to life. So much heart and passion I feel from all of your content. Thank you so much!
That picture of Durin the Deathless reminds me of the main Lycan in Underworld. I can't think of the actors name right now
I was thinking it reminded me of the actor who played Ichabod Crane on Sleepy Hollow. I wonder if it’s the same actor. I’ve never seen underworld.
This was my first video that you have released since I became a subscriber. And as with all of the other videos I’ve seen of yours it was great!! Good to see the dwarves getting some love!
Thanks!
We’ll, I’m one dwarf in, and this video is incredible!
This my be my favorite Middle Earth video of all time!
Guess I’ll have to watch the rest that you’ve made!
Yoooo I was literally just going to bed perfect timing.
AND DWARVES ARE MY FAVORITE RACE
If I could make happy noises without waking the wife, I would.
Rainbow Dave, it's good to hear your voice anew 😃 As usual, you've assembled a marvelous Tolkien list! The ending of Dain's story is equally heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. And thank you specifically for clearing up many of the waters which the Hobbit movies unfortunately left so murky 😊
Please keep the videos coming
Oh lovely day! A new video! Thank you Dave! Please consider a Patreon!
We are here for it!
The day has come. Behold subscribers of tolkien untangled and fathers of youtube algorithim, the day has come.
Ooooh man amazing vid man, 1hr and 30 min of just dwarven awesomeness 😎 great video man I love your content
Glad you enjoy it!
DWARVES!
Awesome video, Dave, oh and are you gonna talk about Warner bros plans for new Middle Earth movies?
The story of king Dain never ever failed to make me cry!!! the way dave narrated everything makes me teary...i love your videos as always!!!
So glad you're back 😄 I've missed your lore videos
Thank you Dave! There is a soft spot for the Dwarves in my heart 🙂 and their language is my favourite.
Your channel is a privilege, bless you. All my love
Absolutely fantastic!
Awesome, can't wait to watch!! Bookmarked for this weekend!
100% hands down best Tolkien CZcams creator.
Thanks!
Absolutely no words.
It`s a pure joy to hear you talking about any tolkien related topic Dave.
Oh and just for you to know, the longest your videos are - the happier i am knowing that i get more of this meaningful joy.
Thank you for so many hours of pure joy.
Soo good to hear from you again, Rainbow Dave! Dwarfs are a great topic, but I won't lie, I do like to hear "Children of Hurin explained series" and "soon" in the same sentence ❤️
Wh do you need Narn i Hin Hurin explained?
@@PalleRasmussen Because it's the best of Tolkien's stories!
@@magiv4205 I agree, but why does it need explaining if you read it?
In general "explaining" Tolkien's stories cheapens them, sometimes even "D&Ds" them. It takes the magic away.
@PalleRasmussen why are you even here if you feel this way? To explain your perceived superiority of enjoying Tolkien's works?
@@PalleRasmussen Because, as are most English users in the world, I'm not a native speaker. I know Tolkien works as translations, and hearing those wonderful stories retold in the author's own language is an another type of experience. Not to mention that Rainbow Dave has a wonderful gift for storytelling AND he also adds loads of contextual information. And also also, I just enjoy hearing his voice.
Why this was a fun surprise! Thank you for using my art on 50:52 and crediting me! Cheers ^^
I always learn so much from your videos! Along with The Red Book and Girl Next Gondor, yours are the best researched CZcams channels.. Keep up the good work!
Council of the Rings is also superb.
@@dronesclubhighjinks I will check that one out...thanks!
@@louisebrouillette5580 thank you also for your suggestions. I have not actually heard of either of those channels. 😄
Excellent video Dave. Was worth the wait. Can't wait till your Children of Húrin series!
Dave!!!! Thank you!! Can't wait to play this. So good to hear your talented voice and amazing content. 🤗😎👍
I much prefer your long form Tolkien lore over the saturated 10 minute videos from all the other channels. Keep up the good work!
Also loved your ROP rewrite.
I mean I like the content very much but the way you are delivering it is so captivating. You have good story telling skills.
Thanks!
FIRST. AMAZING content bro! Keep it up :)
We worth the wait. Love the Dwarves and Great to hear your insight. Your lore has been greatly missed as of late. So glad your back!!!!🎉❤
Just found your channel. Instant sub. By far and away my favorite Tolkien lore video I've seen. I read the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings at 9. That summer I also played my very first Dungeons and Dragons adventure, using one of my cousin's characters, a dwarf named Xavier. Needless to say, I've been in love with Dwarves for over forty years and agree spot on with your list. Sharing it out and thank you for this.
You know when I first watched/read LOTR and up until relatively recently Dwarves were my least favorite. Now that has all changed thanks in part to your videos. Great job Rainbow Dave your videos bring order to the chaos that is TolkienTube.
Thanks!
Oh my goodness, Dave!!!! Welcome back! Long time no sea! (Pun definitely intended)
aces, the master story teller returns, i'm gonna really enjoy the next 90mins
I want to know every detail about the dwarven kingdoms! Gundabad? From whence The Deathless came?!!? There has to be a story there!! And In my mind, Moria is bigger / deeper than Erebor, but I'm truly making that up! How about a list of kingdoms of dwarves by size and or population!!?? The Iron Hills are also geographically interesting. Maybe after Children of Hurin, give us another dwarven palette cleanser. A brutal, brutal palette cleanser. How many dwarven kingdoms existed at the height of their existence? How few, when they were most brutally massacred?? Where did dwarves flourish in each age? Thank you for inspiring me to love the Professor's work more with every video! RAINBOW FREAKIIN DAVE!! Love ya, buddy!!
You did an awesome job...love it
Thank you! Cheers!
Listened to this in the car while my pregnant girlfriend was getting a massage. Pretty sure I got the more gratifying experience of us both! Thank you Dave.
I love your content so much!!! Thank you for all the hard work you do!!
Ooohhh I'm excited for this one! You know I wish there was more on dwarves, maybe a whole stand alone book. But this is fantastic yaya
Hey Dave of many Colours
I am glad that a channel like yours exist because I can escape from reality into Tolkiens works, but diffrently than he wrote it. (possibly because I read it in my mother tonge, german) And I love dwarfs
So keep on going
I find it interesting that, while Tolkien was very religious himself, the only real "religion" in a dogmatic sense we experience in middle-earth is through the Dwarves. There are certain things the Elves hold sacred like the light of Elbereth or whatever, but you don't really find Men (or Hobbits) paying any kind of service to religious tradition. It's mostly the Dwarves. Their language and traditions are sacred.
I have wondered about this as well. I mean in general about the lack of organized religion in Middle Earth in the sense that Tolkien knew it. Maybe he thought more rituals or actual buildings of worship would be too complicating.
anyone else loves the way he says "because, until, and, etc" at the end of every sentence lol, it pulls me in I'm like "Yeah yeah! becose wot!" 😂❤
Great video thanks Dave!
Holy S***! HE'S BACK!!!!
genuienely such an awesome channel, your videos always have this cozy feeling that makes me always want to stay and watch until the end. Your passion for the legendarium shines through in the most amazing way and I absolutely love it, keep being amazing 🙏
Wow, thank you!
I've got such a soft spot for dwarves, they are my favourite race. This video perfectly encapsulates why. The tragedy and the heroism of Durin's folk played out over the ages of the world.
Great video, good to have you back Dave!
Tolkien’s dwarves are so awesome! Thanks very much, glad to be back!
@@tolkienuntangled it's just a shame we don't know more about the dwarves of the red mountains.....I suppose there must be some mystery and room for imagination!
Thank you again Dave. I had been waiting with anticipation for this (and future!) additions to your wonderful body of Tolkien work. May the delightful untangling continue!
Easily the absolute best channel on CZcams. Please keep doing exactly what you do in the same exact way that you do it.
Thanks so much!
An outstanding piece of work. Fantastic as always.
Many thanks!
Yes finally Dave is back! Thank you so much good sir! Bless you!
@ 51:41 Sean Connery as a Tolkien dwarf? I'm here for it!
Nice! Beautiful tales of heroism that are relatable to modern life. Thank you for sharing your gift of translation. I for one feel that you placed your mark in this imaginarium, but in a real way, if that makes any sense.
This is amazing. Thank you for sharing your amazing storytelling abilities!
Thanks so much Dave! Love it! 😊
Awesome video! Thank you!
Enjoyed every single minute. Very epic
Good to see you back. Thank you for the excellent video (as usual). I'm always amazed at how your love for Tolkien's world shines through. May all be well in your world.
Keep up good work man!! Content is fantastic!!
That video was worth the wait. An hour and a half of brilliance
One of the most fun things about the Dwarves is the range of hair and beard styles the artists have come up with.
