"Double overhand grip". HOOK GRIP

@@tecknofun97 no he’s correct, your just very ignorant, look up what a hook grip is and then come back, also if you think he double over handed 500 lbs your crazy, the strongest strongmen in the world can double overhand like 600 max
There is a difference between hook grip and double overhand. Just so you know.
Hook grip is used in a double overhand. As far as I know you can use it on reverse grip as well, I don’t see why not. It’s a modification to a base geip
@@R2WSF you do not hook grip on reverse grip

why is this announcer raggin on medeiros so hard, he really has a thing against rookies or something lol
its just very obvious to someone that's seen a lot of power lifting that he's just young and needs some years to build a stronger base and refine his technique. old man strength is real, especially when it comes to BS and DL. you cant just brute force those lifts. But yes they were a bit harsh, and they should have just mentioned it and moved on.
Clarence would crush this!

@@BenButler50 they all do
So would most powerlifters
@@hittman1412 yea
He would crush this and the Olympic lifting related events. He'd come in dead last in every other event though.
Super smart how after each strict press, Fraser descended to catch the bar on his back to reduce the fatiguing effects of the eccentric movement on his shoulders
Beg to differ, theres more movement to catch the bar like that.
@@dkny9954 no lol
Ken no there’s not lol. Even if there was, how does more movement negate the fact that it would reduce fatigue on the shoulders? When he catches the weight on his back it is distributed across much larger muscles that wouldn’t struggle to absorb such a light weight, whereas the delts and triceps are working significantly harder to lower the same workload on their own. That’s pretty significant when you’re going for 3 heavy singles on the shoulder press.
He also comes from an olympic weightlifting background. So if they aren't going to dump the weight, that is just how oly lifters usually catch the weight to rerack it.
He wasn’t doing that to save energy… it’s just a weightlifting thing, lol.
These clowns thought hook grip was double overhand 🤢
You are the stupid clown. Double overhand is when both of their hands are facing forward instead of inverted like Fraser.
@@tecknofun97 there’s a difference between double overhand and hookgrip. Double overhand is with the thumbs over the fingers while hookgrip is thumb under them fingers. There’s a difference
The amount of stupid commentary that took place during this event was astounding. Announcers trying to sound scientific to impress fan when they don't really know what they're talking about...

Strongman and powerlifter's squats are roughly 2x these weights, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a strongman or powerlifter who could do the cardio like these guys above. Though Magnus ver Magnusson and Jouka Ahola and Mariusz Pudzianowski, in their day, could have competed in crossfit. Back then WSM had some crossfit-like events in it, which were bad for the bigger, more static lifters.
Not 2x, lol. Very few power lifters are squatting in the sub 900s, which is 2x of the weights you see here.
Adler with good form and a belt is lifting 600+ with ease.
That guy is literaly pulling everything out of his back. No legs at all
double overhand hook grip is way better than alternate grip because it never fails if you know how to do it and can endure the pain.

The plates are not adding up on the deadlift???
Part of the challenge in this type of competition is that after several heavy lifts, you can run out of steam. These guys have stamina, but it can get harder if you spend so much energy on the earlier lifts, even if they're lighter.
The endless hashtags are enraging.
Are wraps disallowed for deadlift? I noticed none of them had them. Makes it hard to grip heavy lifts. Never seen a contest without them before. I can imagine the bar ripping up their hands.
They chalk it up, no wraps needed
“Back squat of 700lbs. I really thought he’d be more aggressive with the weight.” Smh. These announcers are hard to please

How are they counting 532, plates don’t add up dawg
Having a strict press event in your competition makes me respect crossfit a lot more.
Also seeing some great techniques. Well.. except for the bent wrists. No wristwraps allowed?
That's Olympic lifting style strict pressing. They're starting from the front rack position, since that's the starting position for the jerk.
You should have slightly extended wrists when pressing, overhead or bench. If wrists are completely neutral, all the load is placed on your thumb joint, but when the wrist is extended 20-30 degrees, 45 at most, then load is distributed across the wrist, directly over the forearm.
Pit vipers were made for Medeiros lol
so just PL meet but with overhead press instead of bench...

Is sumo deadlift not allowed in crossfit?
They’re weird, they say it is, but only if it’s specifically stated in the rules. But no wods or competitions use it. Kinda like shadow banning it
Adler is king, no belt whatsoever... That's what I've been aiming at, trying to get used to not using the belt for natural core strength
Juiced! {Steriods gives these guys an extra boost...
There not even strong though so I’m not sure
@@rylandbraton1460 Pretty sure most of them are taking shit but, obviously strength is not their main focus so they are mediocre strength athletes.
I was expecting a table with the final standings and totals the end of the video...
Rare mistake by Mat and his team on this event. They clearly thought they had lifted enough to win the event. There's another video where you can see Mat's surprise that Adler edged them out.
Don’t matter he smashed them all.
is medeiros right arm longer, or is his left arm stronger? the weights seem off center by like 1% on pretty much every lift.
Could be that he's not keeping his left arm straight since that's the one he's using for his underhand grip. Its the same reason underhand has a higher chance of bicep injury.
@@callumjones2916 People also tend to not realize that for deadlift your underhand needs to be placed actually about an inch outside of where your overhand is placed in relation to the bar. I know I deadlifted a few years with alternating grip and did not know this until I started helicoptering all the time. Basically if you stand up with both your arms down in a double overhand position, then twist one to an underhand position without moving your elbow or shoulder position, you will notice that your hand ends up further away from your body. So to grab both the under and over hands at the same positions on the bar means that you are actually deadlifting with one of your arms more closely tucked to your body than the other and hence you will get unbalances and often a helicoptering motion.
Why are there spotters??????????????

They're talking about how it was smart of him to take an Olympic style squat over a powerlifting style squat? one of those sports is about the heaviest amount you can back squat one is not.
Why are these cross fit people trying so hard like the depth is just ridiculous and the stance is so narrow. It would only help them to fix the form
Fraser always takes the Olympic style stance because that’s his background. Not really a strategy, that’s just how he lifts.
The commentators don't know shit. They also failed to mention that Fraser used an olympic style bar whip at the top of the movement which when timed correctly is tremendous for generating power out of the hole since the bar bounces upwards at the same time that you are switching direction to upwards. Instead all the mentioned was how wide apart their feet were lmao. Not even high/low bar positioning or anything.

Yes, there was some controversy a few years ago where the guy who won second popped for PED's and was stripped of his reward and ranking.
