Nagasaki is a port town founded in 1571 as a trading port for Nanban trade with Portugal. Even during the isolation period of the Edo Tokugawa shogunate, Nagasaki was the only trading port that allowed trade with the Netherlands and China, and only Nagasaki Port was open to foreign countries. During the seclusion period, a foreign settlement was built on Dejima, and it became the gateway to Western culture. Nagasaki is a city that has been in contact with foreign countries for a long time, unlike other cities where Western culture entered after the Meiji Restoration. In the Meiji era, it lost its monopoly position, but Mitsubishi shipyard was established and it developed as a modern industrial city. An atomic bomb was dropped on August 9, 1945, at the end of World War II, and the town was reduced to ruins. However, the topography of Hiroshima is very different from that of Hiroshima, where another atomic bomb was dropped.
This time, we will head east from the Meganebashi bridge over the Nakashima River, climb Teramachi's Heisefurizaka, pass through the old cemetery on the south side of Mt. Kazagashira, and reach Mt. climbed to From there, we walked through Kazagashira-cho, a residential area in heaven, and a residential area at the foot of Mt. Atago. All of them are residential areas with a large difference in elevation, and the scenery of the vertical stairs leading to the top of the mountain was impressive.

@@walkerwalkaroundjapan I don't recall seeing a cemetry like that here in England but there are some, one quite close to me that are overgrown & old with fallen over grave stones & no one to maintain it. They are quaint & inspire old memories!

昭和50年代と比べて町内の人口は3割減りました。空き家の多さがお分かり頂けたと思います。
そしてご覧のとおり高平町高部など車が入れない所はゴーストタウン化が加速しています。
逆に車道が整備されると新築住宅ですぐに埋め尽くされますね。

愛宕に辿り着いた辺り、昔友人を訪ねた風景と記憶が重なったように思いました。実際にはどんぴしゃその場所ではないかとは思いますがとても懐かしくて。それにしても凄い階段でしすね。楽しかったです。

いつもありがとうございます。雨の中ご苦労様でした。前回の長崎編から考えていましたが、横須賀に比べると階段通路が整備されていることに気づきます。横須賀の天坂は10年後は家はもちろん階段ごと朽ち果ててしまいそうでしたが、長崎は家が使われているせいかと思いましたが、やはり空き家が多いのですね。市の都市計画の差なのでしょうか。次回も楽しみにしています。
いつもありがとうございます😊そうですね、階段はたくさんありますが、基本的に山の上にクルマで登れます。一方、横須賀は山が急峻で尾根が切り立っているからでしょうか、道路が登っていない場所が多いですね。次回もまたお楽しみに！
