Nagasaki is a port town created in the 2nd year of Genki (1571) as a Nanban trading port with Portugal. As the only trading port of the Edo Tokugawa Shogunate during the isolation period, only trade between the Netherlands and China was allowed, and only Nagasaki Port was open overseas. During the isolation period, a foreign settlement was built on Dejima, and it was the gateway to Western culture. Nagasaki is a town that has been in contact with foreign countries for a long time, unlike other cities where Western culture was introduced after the Meiji Restoration.
In the Meiji era, it lost its monopoly position, but the Mitsubishi Shipyard & Machinery Works was established and developed as a modern industrial city. The atomic bomb was dropped on August 9, 1945, at the end of World War II, and the town was abandoned. However, it is also very different from Hiroshima, where the atomic bomb was dropped, in terms of terrain, and there are still buildings that have escaped from the blast due to the rugged terrain.
One of the representative areas is Higashiyamate and Minamiyamate, which were developed as foreign settlements after the opening of the country in the 6th year of Ansei. Many Western-style houses were built there, as well as churches, consulates, banks, schools and other buildings. In Minamiyamate, there is "Glover Garden", which is visited by many tourists. This is a theme park that is a part of the settlement in Minamiyamate, and although a particularly important Western-style building is preserved inside the park, a valuable natural townscape remains outside the park. .. If you go down the narrow stone pavement between the Western-style buildings, you can see the sea and Mt. Inasa on the opposite bank. That space is the place you have to taste in Minamiyamate.

集落さん、いつもありがとうございます。高低差２００m、長崎は神です、本当ですね。保土ヶ谷とはレベルが違い、初級編でも凄いです。建物のバリエーションも素晴らしいですが、前半の縦道・横道の舗装のスペックが高いですね。息も絶え絶えのようですが、中級上級編楽しみです。

ありがとうございます。25年前に転勤で居ました。1年半ほど居ましたが蘇ります。坂道と迷路、風頭山と稲佐山。マンション入口は5階でした。

住宅地なのに地面が平らなところの方が少なくて、なんだかジョークみたいですよね。
平な街から引っ越されたのでしょうか。おそらく日本で最も斜面の街だと思いますので、住んでみないとわからない驚くことがいっぱいおありでしょう。
