Wonderfully told and interesting story that I was unaware of their lives. Visited Helen Nearing several times at her homestead, Forest Farms, in Harborside, Maine in thee mid 1980s and she was truly a magnificent individual and espoused kindness and warmth. Dave Wampler voice at beginning? He had a podcast called Simple Living Network!! I like his voice! He folded his show I think. I miss his soothing voice. Then Nearings were far out because they were "far in."

I used to read the wisdom of Helen and Scott in the Mother Earth News. Before it was yuppiefied around issue number 85.
