These live performances this month by Bauhaus are the best on stage reproductions of hits from the past that I've ever heard. Murphy's voice, the guitar and rhythm section---all amazing.
People who think there was not any challenging, non-pop, music back in the 80's, sure didn't look under the surface. I mean come on, Bauhaus, the Smiths, THE The, Killing Joke, The Church, Gang of Four, Ultravox, et al., are so much more interesting and timeless sound than 90% the dreck around these days.

There’s a lot of good music happening now too. Chelsea Wolfe, Anna Von Hauswolff, Kati Ran, etc. You just have to look for it. It’s not all pop.
