    Beautiful. I planted my banana pepper, corn and tomato seeds on 5/6. Im in zone 7 hoping for the best because I may having waited to late to plant the seeds.

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Před 4 měsíci

      I don't think so. Some tomatoes need a long warm season but not all. Peppers and corn do totally fine when weather is warmer. Hope you will have a great harvest. Happy growing and thank you for your comment!

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Před 4 měsíci +5

      You can find this variety from many seed providers. I got it from Sandia seeds www.sandiaseed.com/products/sweet-banana . Happy growing and thank you so much for your comment!

    My banana peppers produce near mature fruit when way smaller than these. Should I still harvest the 2 or 3 fruits if the plant is 6-10 inches?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Yes, correct. Harvesting sends a signal to plant that "don't stop producing". It helps plant produce more and bigger fruits. Also, very small pots, or not fertile soil will result in small fruits. Happy growing and thank you for visiting.

    When removing peppers do you start from the lowest one or just whichever look to be of good size

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Před 2 měsíci

      Usually the ones that are ready, are the lower ones, but I pick whatever is ready. Thank you for visiting.

    When I grew my sweet banana pepper two years ago I found that they didn't have any taste (bland) when I tried them raw. Didn't matter if they were yellow, turning to orange, etc. Curious your thoughts and personally how flavorful you found your harvest to be.

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Před 4 měsíci +1

      They taste sweet and for sure they are different than regular sweet bell peppers but no that they don't have any taste. We enjoy them fresh in salads and make pickling (great for sandwiches). Mainly I like their crunchiness. I have learned that both for hot and sweet peppers, hot weather and plenty of sun make them taste better. Do you have a favorite sweet pepper to grow? Besides bell peppers, what is your to-go variety? Thanks you very much for sharing.

    Thank you for this video.
    Did you keep them outside when you first planted your seeds or did you keep them indoors?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I keep my seed trays indoor until the seedlings sprout. As soon as they pop out, I move them outside in indirect sunlight (under a patio umbrella), or 3-4 hours of direct early morning sunlight. You can bring them in at nights if temperature drops below 50F (10C). I hope this answers your question and thank you very much for your comment.

    I wonder: if you were to take seeds from store bought peppers that you like- can you plant them straight away or they need to be dried out first?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Před 5 dny

      First, it depends on the variety. If the store bought peppers are heirloom variety, like the Sweet banana in this video, the plant grown from its seed will produce same kind of pepper. But if it is hybrid type, there is chance that it will not produce same exact fruit when grown from its seed. But to answer you question, yes you can plant seeds right away. Hope this helps and thank you for visiting!
