Jamel: Do all their live performances sound like this?
In a word, yes... yes they do. ELO has some of the best live sound of any act. Jeff Lynne also tries to keep the song arrangements as close as possible to the studio recordings.
And yes, this is a lyrically brutal song... much in the same sentiment as Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone".

Just a side note, Jeff Lynne is very close to The Beatles that at one time John Lennon called him the fifth Beatle. Talented singer and song writer and yes he still sounds this good. You saw him perform at the tribute for George Harrison, Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame where Prince stole the show. So much great music of the 70s. The former Beatles trusted Jeff Lynne so much that they asked him to produce the songs from the Beatles Anthology. There were master recordings of John Lennon. His wife Yoko gave them to the surviving Beatles. Songs like Free As Bird and Real Love were recorded and as a Beatle fan it was magic all over again hearing all there voices in harmony singing together again was the closest we could ask for. Check out the Beatles Anthology docu. It's a great story. A great history of Rock and Roll. Thank you for playing so many great songs. It's the music of my childhood, of my youth, it was a great time in my life.
