i like that sherlock, in his description of john, actually reveals quite a bit about himself as well. he’s quick to show off, observant, and- as smart as he is -he’s faster to speak than to collect all the information (john only has a sister). i think sherlock realizes that he is allowing john to get to know him through this demonstration, and it is a more effective introduction than if sherlock were to try to describe himself, and ask john about himself.
This is the most intelligent, inspiring comment that I’ve seen in a while. I appreciate the thought you put into that analysis and the way it helped change my perspective!
@@callumstanley9727 pretty sure John gave Sherlock his phone to text something when he walked into the room, and was just explaining where he got his information from later
There's a lot going on between the lines, but I'll leave that for the others who've already pointed it out. I wanted to talk about the distinct differences between the show and the book. The original Sherlock Holmes series was set in Victorian times, so obviously a lot was different. But the line of the plot goes roughly the same way. Watson got his medical degree, became an army doctor, fought a war in Afghanistan, got shot in the shoulder and was unable to serve any longer. Skipping to the part of flat-hunting, Watson meets up with Stamford, in which Sherlock is mentioned and elaborated. Stam gives background detail to Holmes and a sort of vague-ish warning about the 'fellow who's a little queer in his ideas' yes that's an actual quote. This is where the differences contrast the most. When Watson was taken to the lab, Sherlock was finishing his experiment-turned-successful 'Sherlock Holmes test' of identifying blood within mixed substances. And we were given various hints to his fascination with crime after listing the cases his test would've clarified ('Von Bischoff of Frankfort, Mason of Bradford, and the notorious Muller, and the Lefèvre of Montpellier, and the Samson of new Orleans'). Sherlock even asked about his boundaries against annoying flatmates, violin playing, chemical experiments, mood swings and all. In A Study of Scarlet, Watson got to learn more of Sherlock before the 'I can deduce anything before I blink' bombshell was dropped on him. I love Bennie Cucumber and Martin Hedgejog's acting, but comparing it with the Doyle's writing, I find the books much more compelling and less 'shove it in your face' over the show, respectively. What do you think?
I think show is trying to take a different take on Sherlock, because something's are easy to read, you read books so you can agree that there are something's that are hard to show... But I enjoyed books and show equaly, and we all can agree that Benedict and Martin are perfect as Sherlock and John
Did anyone else continue the main melody line when the theme kicked in and was cut off at the end of the (hilarious by the way-) clip or was it jus me?
It’s actually quite fun. Just watching snippets doesn’t give you the whole experience. The show has heart , humor and creative plots and greatly acted.

Him defaulting to a brother suggests that HE has a brother with whom he has a problematic relationship
He assumed brother because the phone has the name Harry on it. Harry is generally a male name
@@arkhaan7066 he hadnt seen the phone yet that's later when he points out the name and that it was a gift

And Smaug 😂 They decided to live together in mountain they are friends since their meet
Smaug and bilbo in an alternate demention
things just got out of hand
😁😁😁😁😁😁
Or Ross and Kahn
*Dimension*
Just sayin'...
Also Doctor Strange and Everett Ross in MCU, they dun physically meet but they were under the same universe.
that damn wink always catches me off guard and i absolutely approve of it
It's the wink Sherlock gives to John before he leaves that I love.
The best part is that look Sherlock gave to his friend, as if saying “where is the problem? I did not see one.” 😂🤣😂
This has me wanting to watch this again
do it
Me too!
Benedict Cumberbatch as sherlock Holmes is goosebumps 😭
All correct apart from him having a brother. John actually has a sister called Harriet, affectionately nicknamed Harry.
this is by far my favorite meet cute from any tv show

Argh that music,
just makes my heart skip a beat
My Baker Street boys
"You don't wanna buy me dinner first?"
He really just hit him with a "Problem?"
The greatest introduction of a character 🤙❤️
It’s Sherlockn time
Love him
And you never see that man again in the series; the one who introduced them
...up to this day I wonder how funny if he would just have said _„You know what? I will go rather meet my brother then live with him.“_
It's his sister actually.
This only scene enough to rewatch again
Spectacular
Best Sherlock ever!
I'm gonna watch this shit again😁😁😁
And idk why do I feel the need to announce it like this.
Not me living at 1409 B baker Street 😳
Be still, my heart.
And we never see this guy again that even Sherlock shows some courtesy towards surprisingly.
Benedict Cumberbatch 💞🔥🔥 The name is Sherlock Holmes. 🥰🎉
Mike's just standing there smug, knowing what he'd just done 😏😌😊 Everyone, say 'Thank You Mike Stamford'
Benedict Cumberbatch is the best Sherlock frickin Holmes.

Did anyone else continue the main melody line when the theme kicked in and was cut off at the end of the (hilarious by the way-) clip or was it jus me?
He resembles Tim Robbins...
He did get one detail wrong
Amazing, but the throw was too fast.
I find the Pete Holmes version to be better
Dont think he needed a name after that one
Mozao ❤

How does he know his brother is worried about him if he's an alcoholic?

Lousy Holmes and Watson. Sorry but they don't even come close.
That shit must get old so fast, it's the third clip I've seen from the show and it's not even impressive anymore, just annoying

This is sooo pretentious.
