Thank you. I've been making the native american flutes for more than 7 yrs. It was a fulfilling journey to reach the point when I can make top profesional flutes.
Thank you for that my daughter throughly enjoyed that too and went an found her pan flute and was trying so hard to play along with you tuned in A it was a little to high 😅
I'm happy if I inspire you to consider playing the native american flute. I have good news for you. As you can see it's nothing as a technical challenge, it is a very friendly and easy to play instrument. Because it is in pentatonic minor it will sound harmonious if you play the holes in order, not having opened holes with closed holes bellow ( this is for beginners, of course you have an extended scale when you are ready for more variety). My first advice when teaching total begginers: don't think you need to learn to play music with an instrument, this will put some pressure and espectations. Instead you are in contact with a piece of wood that produces sounds and you are curious about it, to explore it and to see how will respond depending on how you breath in it. In this manner you are more relaxed about doing a new thing, it's more like playing than learning. Second advice: constant practice. Not much 10-30min per day is enough , as much as you enjoy it. You will see day by day it will become easier, more natural. To have the holes well covered and control over each finger it is the biggest challenge for a beginner also to reach the point when the diaphragm is completely relaxed and the air flow, how you breath, becomes a reflection of what you want to express form your Soul - this is the target with this flute (not musical theory and technique)....will come by practice. Last thing, maybe you don't start with a big flute like this. Key of A, G, F, E are easier to play for most hands. But of course, if you are really connected with the sound of a larger flute remember it is all about practice. You know I make these flutes? I can make one for you and guide you more.
