  • Let's take the Coronation Quiche recipe and adapt it into a super tasty gin and absinthe hybrid. It's tasty by itself and even better in cocktails.
The new CTC shirts are available here:
    chasethecraft....
    Spirit Recipe:
Macerate 2L (0.53 gal) of spirit (aim for 55% abv) with the following botanicals for 3 hours at 55c (131 f):
    7g Dried Tarragon
    15g Wormwood
    10g Fennel
    15g Anise
    20g uncrushed Juniper
    10 crushed juniper
    15g Coriander
    10g Lemon
    1.4g Angelica Root
Proof to 40% then pot distill.
Take a small amount of heads. Around 30ml (1 oz)
Then collect until the botanicals start to lose their flavor or things get a bit weird. Likely around the 55% mark.
Separate half the resulting spirit and heat it back to 50 c (120f) then macerate with the following botanicals for 5-25 min based on flavour:
    4g Tarragon
    6g Spinach
    6g Beans
    1.5g hyssup
Sieve the maceration, add it back to the reserved spirit and proof it down to 55% ABV.
    Cocktail Recipe:
    2 parts Coronation absinthe/gin
    1.5 parts Honey syrup
    1.5 parts lemon juice
    white of one egg
    Dry shake
Add ice and shake again. Strain into a glass, top up with soda water and garnish with angostura and a cheese crisp.

Hello, I'm from a place where the name Moonshine is literally moonshine as brewing and distilling is prohibited over here. So, there are lots and lots of unhealthy illegal product that effects the health of drinkers causing sickness and untimely deaths. Thanks to your channel I've learnt the art of brewing and distilling safely. But still i have to do it in the cover of the night(under the light of the moon😅) as it is illegal. But I'm glad and happy that I can provide some drinkers with a healthy one and all thanks to you and your channel. Wishing you good health and a happy life. Thank you very much.

It smells like chlorophyll, the green pigments in plants that catalyzes photosynthesis. Alcohol is an excellent solvent at extracting organic compounds, like chlorophyll, so your solution is able to become far more deep green (more molecules of chlorophyll) in color than boiling veggies in normal water.

What about hanging some bacon in the still? Already has a great smokey flavor.

The colouration part with fresh spinach makes me wonder: does the oxalic (sp?) acid from fresh spinach (i) dissolve into the alcohol (ii) react with the other ingredients (iii) stabilise or unstabilise the colour in the long run? Maybe I'll go foraging some Oxalis acetosella for colouration... Thank you for the video!

Interesting idea for sure. Generally thats spice not herbs. Although there are a lot of oil soluable componants to herbs and spices. So Toasting or frying them can help up the flavour.
