Tips And Comments:
- Playing Technique:
Strength: Middle
Hand position: Thumb next to bridge for verses, Finger between pickups for chorus
Knobs: Just neck knob at full.
- Gear Sound:
Added bass. Cut down some middle. A little bit of treble.
- About The Song:
De Leo lines are really smart and you'll need to be agile and accurate. Thumb thecnique is used to get less attack and more bass, more of a double bass sound.

Imagine playing this song standing up, wearing sunglasses, in the dark, 40 minutes into a set and sweating your ass off in a suit jacket; AND singing backup vocals at the same time and doing the whole thing seamlessly. Rob DeLeo, what an absolute beast.
This just goes to show just how under-rateed Robert DeLeo is as a bassist. He put together some of the sickest bass licks in all of modern rock and is honestly one of the reasons I picked up the instrument.
What a great bass line. When I listened to STP back in the 90s I never paid attention to the bass (I just played guitar back then)...now that I've been playing bass for a couple years, and since Weiland's death, I'm revisiting STP and realizing how great the bass is. This is a fun one to learn...takes a lot of practice! Thanks for making it easier for us to learn.
RIP Scott Weiland
So much quirk and flow for such a serious song. Perfect
I wanted to thank you because i left my bass for a long time (i've been playing guitar for the past year) and your videos gave me the need to play bass too :)
Nailed it! Dude thanks for tabing this...it's perfect. BTW one of the best bass lines out of the 90's...just sayin'.
I wish I could play bass so I could learn this song and Lounge Act by Nirvana. Two of the best bass lines of that decade.
Please keep regularly making STP videos. They've both been really nice basslines, amongst the best crafted out of the artists you've covered. So keep them coming! :)
OMFG Im so happy to find this page, I am so getting back into Bass Guitar, thank you so much bro!
I remember seeing this cover just over a year ago when I started playing and thinking "how the hell could anyone play this??" And now I just played through it, thank you for all the covers!!
