Hi Yam I think also there is element of self-sabotage. The fear of being released after all that time can be daunting. people get institutionalised sometimes.
Hi Yammy, great insight, My experiences and 'ive only served about 10 months in an open prison are, most fellas that absconded were in debt due to drug use. one or two requested a move back to closed conditions as they didn't like the open conditions which is a lot more sensible than absconding. It was Sudbury and I would say about 1 a month absconded. good luck going forward.

I was 14mths into a 7 went to the mount and someone cut the fence pulled me out and the police never gave me paperwork for the UAL concentrated on more armed robberies and the lot was thrown out no committal even had to give me the time I was out for paid for it in the end but a small victory at the time
One fella had to get out as the £notes he had were changing and the deadline was soon for changing them someone was helping him but when he was told that they were changing the ££ for Scottish £100 notes he thought w was having him over he had as much problems spending them down here legally in shops etc it was laughable

Lots of different reasons and maybes....the bottom line is, it comes down to one thing...given the choice he would rather be outside prison than inside ...
Danny needs to stay in jail or hospital the man is a danger to himself and the public if Danny is free on the street he will go back to his old ways he carnt change on the street Danny was noone in the jail he is someone I've none the man all my life when he was a child he was a good kid but the system and his up bringing ruined him he is a product of his environment he knows no difference

One lifet dude I knew purposely got major nickings as soon as he got parole board dates so they wouldn't let him go. You can never know the thoughts that people have when they've been inside a long time. Absconders went right back to the closed establishment they were at before absconding.....also the cat reverts to C for most.
