- Special to commemorate the opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Weird that I published this exactly 1 month before the opening. May the force Bea with you!
Bea Arthur, who plays a bartender in the Mos Eisley cantina, sings "Good Night, But Not Goodbye" to the same set of aliens that were seen in the Cantina in Star Wars, including, as the back-up musicians, the Cantina's resident group, Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes.
Honestly I’d read/watch an entire series dedicated to Bea Arthur the singing alien bartender and her giant soft-spoken bodyguard
Leighton Petty this should’ve been the focus of the special
@@austinpearce5442 Yes! I've been saying that for years!
May the force BEA with you!
Bea knew this whole thing was garbage but she pushed through and gave us a darling little tune to remember
She was about the only thing worth watching other than Diahnn Carroll.
8:35 - "I'll run a tab for the Empire." LOL!
Seeing this whole thing helps me understand it. It wasn't just her bar... it was Tatooine on lockdown...
"of all the bars, on all of Tatooine, and he had to come walking into mine..."
iGGy eo here's lookin at you chrome
Come back soon, Bea Arthur. We'll be waiting.
I love B Arthur in anything. One of the funniest ladies ever. Actually, she would have been amazing in a star wars film.
Imagine if had she been Aunt Beru
~RIP Beatrice Arthur & Harvey Korman~
Bea was such a glamorous girl! A real old school star and a celebrity in every way unlike todays talent free zones.
She looks GORGEOUS 🥰💚
This song has a special place in my heart 😥 Just one more round friend
Dan Tidwell Bea is a true Golden Girl
Bea should had been in the original star wars
+Jordan Bonet films I heard her Character Ackmena was offscreen in the Cantina in Episode 4.
I love Bea, she's so funny! I can't believe I'm just seeing this now🤩⭐️
For the last 5 months I have listened to this when I'm drunk
Exactly what comes to mind when I think of a Holiday special; a night at a sketchy bar with Satan, the Wolf-Man, the recently deceased (Greedo), recent amputees (Walrus-Face), a man sized opossum and a slew of criminals :D
Cris P. Bacon a wretched hive of scum and villainy..
The one thing missing from Force Awakens...
I never knew this existed until I heard it mentioned on the Sick and Wrong Podcast, Episode 601, just today. This surely must be the best thing to have ever happened at the Mos Eisley cantina. Bea Arthur was such an amazing talent, the song is so beautiful and the choreography is perfect. I will rewatch the song segment over and over again. Wonderful performance!
I found out it about on the goldbergs ep
@@jackierodriguez1291 same lol
@@jackierodriguez1291 found out about this movie from tv land in 2005 I was 21 at the time 🍔
Thank you. This is an absolute treasure, and it's a shame it's buried with the Special.
I can see why Deadpool has the hots for her she made a part of this special tolerable
Kyle Campbell Deadpool likes Bea Arthur?
@@katiebayliss9887 he named both of his Iconic Katanas Bea and Arthur, after Her name
@@AbsoluteDingus709 Aw
With the coronavirus this becomes more sad
What is funny is that George Lucas still says this is canon.
T James To have the chance to have this amazing performance in your canon and leave it out would be monumentality idiotic!
greengrassofhome plus didn’t this film introduce the character Boba Fett?
@@manofmystery5191 first time boba fett appeared was in a parade in the 70s💛
@@mikesilva3868 True, but by the time that parade happened, this dumpster fire of a film was already well into production. So technically, this is the first thing ever made with Boba Fett in it.
Awsomeness
I like that there's just a random giant rat in there. Like, just one of the patrons. Truly, Star Wars is a weird and wonderful place. :D
That was a giant puppet originally built for the movie Food of the Gods. Guess it was collecting dust and the filmmakers thought “let’s throw it in the scene!” Lol
The rat is so cute 🤣
My theory, Bea Arthur is Snoke.
I know I’m about three years late to the party but I just thought I’d say: THAT WOULD BE AWESOME
You were right, Luke... you were right...
Eggspectashons subberded
A great song.
was there ever an Ackmena action figure?
Last year, somebody actually made one. If you Google “Ackmena Action Figure,” you will be able to find it on the figure realm website.
Ackmena is now canon (appears in the brand new book "From a Certain Point of View", with mention of her wife.
Also that book made 1 of the Modal Nodes (an all male band) female. SJWs strike again.
Pete, you're a weird, sad dude.
Like Golden Girls in an alternate universe!
This and the animated short are the only watchable parts of the Holiday Special, in my opinion. I can't watch the rest without Rifftrax.
Let's be honest. She is the best character in all of Star Wars, I don't care if this was nuked out of canon, this is canon
This was probably the only 'enjoyable' part of that film... 😂
You forgot to put the " " in the worr "Film".
This and the Boba Fett segment were the only decent parts of the holiday special.
How?
I Can Live Forever because they are good
@@larniieplayz6285 How?
Oh my bloody God......just look at the poor quality ahaha oh my god it's so damn scary. You can really tell that all them creatures are so fake and not scary. (Actually it's more creepy then scary) people walking around with masks of weird aliens and other creepy monsters actually it's quite scary even though it's so fake but I bet 1970's kids at the time were like OH MY GOD ITS AMAZING
Those are mostly recycled costumes from the actual movie, so.......
When I watched the movie, I had to look on the internet to confirm this was Bea Arthur
Still better than the sequals. ;-)
Hey remember the time Bea Arthur told Satan to get out of her bar?
Required viewing for all members of the Imperial forces? You mean to tell me every single stormtrooper had to sit through a video of Bea Arthur rejecting a guy and then singing??
😂😂😂 it's a crime if you don't cry.
I want an Disney+spin off on the rejected guy
No wonder he had the death sentence on him in twelve star systems 10:40
I guess it's his brother, who still has an arm.
I actually really like this scene and number. 😬
This is such a great part but it doesn’t belong in the movie it was just thrown in
No part of the movie belongs in the movie
Luckily I missed this as a child but as an adult it’s fascinatingly horrible !
Bea supposedly wanted to do the "Alabama Song" - a Bertolt Brecht Vaudevillian song but the Brecht estate refused permission.
So Ken and Mitzie Welch wrote this "Brechtian" number instead.
The filming of this scene was during the Summer in California and a lot of the actors in alien masks regularly passed out from heat exhaustion and needed straws inserted into the mask just to breathe.
Darth Maude
As bad as the Holiday Special is there really isn't anything in it that contradicts or is contradicted by the films. Disney even celebrates Life Day every November 19th in the Galaxy's Edge portion of the park these days. (And for anyone wondering, Ackmeena's cantina is not the same one seen in A New Hope)
Where was Wuher the bartender in the original Star Wars scene? ("We don't serve their kind in here!") Also the twin sisters and the pipe smoker?
Wuher didn’t work the nightshift.
6:56 disney closing down the galactic star cruiser hotel.
empire made def made the quota on duis that night
Majel Barrett-Roddenberry doing the commentary over the montage the storm troopers are watching?
It sure sounds like her! Hey, Majel, wrong franchise!
I like to think that Alien dancing with Bea was trying to seduce her and it failed miserably
Bea was oblivious I mean
I wanted to know more about her and the guy who is sweet on her
her pouring the liquid into volcano man's head makes me so sick and disturbed.
The male PA voice reminds me of the narrator guy from *Plan Nine*...
4:56
She doesn't want to date you!! She just wants to run her business!!!
5:45 corona virus 2020 dictator government
Wow. Up until I saw this holiday special, I thought that perhaps the worst TV shows of the 1970s were the "Brady Bunch Hour" or perhaps "Pink Lady and Jeff", but "The Star Wars Holiday Special" is at least as bad...possibly worse🤣
Beatrice why?
Basically she's playing Maude. lol.
+McGannahan Skjellyfetti Awh, that is SO cute!
She did this movie for her two sons. They were Star Wars fans...
So all they do is sit at home and watch TV? And i really "dig" the Filmation special effects! OMG this is all jaw-droppingly bad!
that one thumbs down🤣
😇worst movie ever made
0:30 *GOOD GOD!! JUST STICK TO THE FUCKING STORY!!! WHAT DO YOU HAVE ADD?!?!*
WERE THERE OTHER SCRIPTS THAT JUST GOT MIXED IN WITH THIS ONE?!! JUST STICK TO ONE FUCKING PREMISE SO WE CAN GET THIS OVER WITH!!! *GOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!*
Lame. But, thanks for posting it.
I always wondered what a shaved wookie would look like. Now I know. Bea Arthur.
