In case some people are still confused, let me put it into words.
Rick Prime never had his family killed, he just simply left after he invented portal travel, abandoning his family.
He then went to Rick C-137's dimension, and killed C-137's family, Beth and Diane.
Rick C-137 then invented portal travel and went to the Prime Dimension because he thought he would find Rick Prime there, instead he just found the abandoned Smith Prime family, its why Beth Prime kept saying "you disappeared for 20 years".
Morty Prime then destroyed the Prime Dimension with his oxytocin love juice, forcing Rick C-137 and Morty Prime to find another dimension, C-131, taking the place of Rick C-131 and Morty C-131 after they were killed in an explosion in the garage.
Jerry C-131 gets swapped with Jerry 5126 at the Jerry daycare.
Rick C-137 resets portal travelers, and everybody gets sent back to their original dimension. Rick Prime gets sent back to the destroyed Prime Dimension, in which he meets and kills Jerry Prime, and we learn that Beth Prime and Summer Prime are already dead.
The entire family then goes to pick up Jerry 5126, and they all return to Dimension C-131. In that dimension, they also meet Jerry C-131, who then destroys the C-131 dimension.
The family then moves to the Parmesan Dimension, where they take the place of their murdered selves. The final scene makes it clear who is from what dimension.
We have no significant information on Dimension 5126. The Prime Dimension only has 2 survivors, Rick Prime and Morty Prime. Dimension C-131 has 3 survivors, Summer C-131, Beth C-131 and Space Beth C-131.

For me even though I watched all seasons except this most recent one it was so long I had forgot all of these small details

I know a very vocal minority thinks season 2 was peak Rick and Morty, but honestly, watching this really reminds me of all the character development the Smith family has gone through, and the shift from heavy nihilism to the importance of family, is amazing. My favorite theme, though, is that it's the family you choose, not be family you're born with, that is most important

In retrospective, they could've just snatched the cure from C-131 and just stayed in Prime's world.
I suspect Rick probably knew how to make the cure but simply didn't because he wants revenge.

Well, he literally go to that universe only because he was on a rampage of revenge, probably wanted to wait until Rick Prime shows up so he could finally try to kill him since looking around multiverse didn't work. That's why he weren't that attached to this universe family, he only grew to like RP's Morty after much longer time. At least that's how I see it.
Now that we know more about Rick's backstory, we can assume he left that universe destroyed for revenge reasons since that's the universe Prime Rick comes from.
Dead Wife Rick's "found family" consists of Prime Rick's grandchild, an echo of Prime Rick's daughter + clone, daughter and son in law with s2 vibes. He got two great-grandchildren (half alien and a incest one) and a bio son from those horse creatures. He also has good friends.
I hope Rick recovers after fighting Rick Prime.

Wait a minute I just realized some things:
1. C-137 is the only recorded Rick to NEVER have an Original Family.
2. The Central Finite Curve, used to isolate the Rick realities from the rest, was made AFTER C-137 lost his family, which means that flashback period was done when Rick was where Evil Morty is now.
3. Every other Rick accepted the deal and their Wife died of...old age? The accident only happened because C-137 refused to accept the deal.

Love the fact that not everyone mentions that Rick C-137 left his ship on the Prime Universe, I'm seriously hoping for it to be mentioned in a later episode, maybe they'll use that to say that Prime Rick successfully escaped from that universe 🤔
Rick built that ship out of spare parts he found in the garage, and perhaps the wreckage of his previous ship. Just saying that Rick Prime can probably build his own ship from scratch, it doesn't really matter whether he uses the trashcan ship.
So if the jerry swap labels at 5:18 are not an editing error, then that means the Rick on the right is c-137 (since he leaves with 5126 Jerry), which also means Morty prime had a night filled with murdering just like the Morty we watched throughout the episode did. Go watch Mortynight run 3 seconds before this scene, the Rick on right asks another rick if his Morty also spent the night killing. It could also be that we actually were watching Morty Prime that whole episode, and the Rick from the Poopybutthole dimension just had a similar adventure to get the pink parasite crystals. So either that or Morty Prime had a totally unrelated night of murders that we never got to see……
What are you talking about:? We have always been following Rick c-137 and Morty prime since season one. There's never been any episode where we follow another Rick or Morty except Evil Morty.

Still the way he treated his family in the past, I guess it's a cycle of hate. It just sucks they respond so coldly to him caring.
Interesting thought I just had: At this point, the Morty, Rick and Jerry we're following in the show are all from different timelines/dimensions. However, Summer and Beth (both of them) are still the same two (now three) from Dimension C-131. Despite all the dimension hopping, Summer is still with her ACTUAL Mom(s) and vice-versa. Even the whole Beth/Space-Beth thing doesn't change that, as despite the cloning, both are still native to C-131. Unlike Rick C-137, Morty Prime and Jerry 5216, Summer, Beth and Space-Beth still share the same dimension of origin, and have been since (midway through) Season 1.
I really have to wonder if that fact will become relevant at some point.
They definitely won't be visiting c 131 anytime soon though. Or else they'd get Mr Frundled.

Jerry Prime tells Morty Prime that both Summer and Beth Prime are dead (after Morty Prime returned to the Prime Dimension after the Portal Traveler Reset).
Jerry Prime later runs into Rick Prime (again there because of the Portal Traveler Reset), and Rick Prime kills Jerry Prime.
5:16 I know this is Adult Swim's official channel, but I really think you're wrong. We can see from the ticket Rick hands Morty that their Jerry( C-131) is listed as "5126" in Jerryboree's Catalog. So naming one Jerry "C-131" and the other 5126 doesn't make sense, since they are the same Jerry.
Most likely the Rick we see at the start of the shot is another Rick, and the Rick who walks in the shot from the left is Rick C-137 who is looking for Jerry 5126. He probably approached the wrong Rick, thinking he got their Jerry.

I finally got around to watching this show a few weeks ago, and now season 7 is a day away.

I'm pretty thankful AS put this together before S7 dropped so we would have a better understanding of who exactly the current family we are watching, is.
I rewatched the show recently and it's not overtly explained too clearly which dimensions they've travelled to and who is left.
So this helped me understand a lot more when they come back and find "Season 2 Jerry" in the house (forget what universe) with Mr Frundles. (Actually that was C-131 right?)

Rick 5126 didn’t know he had the right Jerry. Being Ricks, rather than try to figure it out, they decided it was easier to just swap.
I love how a biological family ends up becoming a found family.
Useful information you (I, frankly) may have not learn while watching Rick and Morty:
1. The dimension of Smith family that was after Kronenberg episone was C-131
2. The current Jerry (the one mixed in Jerryberry) was from "dimension" 5126
3. At least the main events follow the same Rick and Morty and Smith family
(my cousin had a thesis that more than one Rick and Morty are shown as main characters and you can track which Rick and Morty you're watching by paying attention to details but now this thesis may only apply to some "small" episodes like the one with decoys or with Planetina).

Why was Morty given the designation of "C-137" during the Citadel episode if he's from Rick Prime's Universe?
He didn't know that he and Rick were from different universes until "Rickmurai Jack" so he just assumed he was C-137 just like his Rick.
