    it's funny, because that was an Axe attacks techniques, not a Sword, historically sword fights were using stabbing attacks from above opponents shield to their head or neck.

    as a staff fighter, this is a life saver. I would allways try to go for the leg shot by pointing the tip towrds them and swinging the backeng around to catch there ankles, but once they were down, they just sit there and hide all shots from me. should I try and push them while they are down or wait for them take an attack or what.
    Someone please help me!!!!. This is the one class of fighters I dont know how to fight

    Dual wielding is useless if you don't attack from different angles at the same time, use them with different timing or wait to parry and strike simultaneously

    Utter Bullshit.

  • @ColossalSwordFormAndTechnique

    In real life, go for the legs. Or do a repeated powerful back kick, just overpower a shield fighter. Not that difficult. Go and grab his shield out of his hand lol. Not difficult.

    Why does he keep going to his knees, surely thats just giving away a mobility advantage?

    • @danielsloan1322
      @danielsloan1322 Před 5 lety +1

      he took a leg shot in amtgard your hit in the leg you lose the use of it . by dropping to your knees your hit leg to the front is not allowable target, by stay up or posting as it called both your legs are allowable to be hit the loss of 2 limbs counts as a kill. dropping is very smart as a fighter to protect your legs that left and to present a smaller target

      Taking a knee on a hard surface can be absolute murder on the knees. Also bare in mind crotch shots are legal in Amtgard, so a cup isn't a bad idea either.

    • @danielmacfarlane4575
      @danielmacfarlane4575 Před rokem

      When the leg is hit, the player is required to take a knee to simulate the effects of a wounded leg. Taking a knee on hard surfaces can damage cartilage, so it is advisable to wear knee pads.

    What is the sword length and sheild size?

    • @FloatinCanada
      @FloatinCanada Před 6 lety

      Are you asking the size being used or adding that it's another thing you should look at? I agree it's useful to make the observation when analyzing them.

      +Rosco Jenkins I wear sunglasses when i fight too. it hides your tales. when people fight they tend to subconsciously look at the location they plan to strike at.

      not sure what makes you think that. I believe he's 50-55 years old and has a blackbelt in a couple different martial arts and has trained in martial arts for a long time. He's fairly new to Amtgard though.

      I feel i should clarify, I was trying to be a funny, he kept interrupting the instructor by always doing something, instead of just waiting and being an example. (if the instructor said swing low then he could swing low) he just seemed jittery and all over the place

  • @oldscorp
    @oldscorp Před 6 lety +2

    yeah this is how people fought lol. all you had to do is pat your opponent on the shoulder with the tip of your sword and BAAM! masive trauma hemoraging and limb loss. that why they are swinging so fast? like they are playing nintendo wi. even if he didnt wear any kind of armor you would still need to build some force into the swing, and im talking about swinging your sword not quickly tap the tip against the enemy as fast as you can.

    • @threedogg3339
      @threedogg3339 Před 6 lety

      Actually in longsword fighting you can pivot both hands(one near the cross guard and the other near the pommel) to make quick snaps which are just as lethal, and no build up swing is required
