The depreciation on this beautiful car is absolutely phenomenal. Positively scary even compared to other high end Euro cars. P.s. Nick, being a Kiwi with a terrific sense of humour you should check out the UT channel "Angry Ram". You will love it. This guy made news headlines here in NZ yesterday by showing how he has dammed a stream and used an old Fisher and Paykel washing machine to generate free electricity for many years.
I flew one of these a few years back when it was still in the testing phase. It was thoroughly camouflaged. I took it where a lot of cars go for testing - Australia. But first, of course, with a quick turn through New Zealand!

I was fortunate to drive this car back to back with a DB9 (a friend that owns both) and I agree... it makes delicious power and it is so satisfying to drive. It is significantly better than the DB9 and I would attribute that to the transmission more than anything.

Thanks for reviewing this. Aston is the perfect mix of sport and luxury. Ultimate cross country car. Please review Aston DBS Superleggera when it finally hits the street. It's the same engine as DB11 but tuned for more performance. Not sure what I make of its giant grille though. Some angles I like it, some looks like a big mouth bass trying to eat
Yes Nick, that’s a gorgeous car. I’m not a six footer and I would have trouble driving a car that I cannot see all four corners. Even if it’s a quarter of a million dollars.
Wow, I was actually thinking of replacing my 991.1 with a manual V12 Aston Martin someday until I saw what "hand built in England" means for the workmanship quality. That's a new car that's already falling apart, imagine trying to maintain it for years.
But I believe it is far better from the previous models

Great model, legendary car.. The Aston never stops to impress. But, as you pointed out Nick, British Hand-Made does still not mean that things DON’T fall off the car, or immediately start rusting away once you leave the showroom. I think that’s sad and a ‘blamage’, considering the name of the brand and the wagonload of money you need to buy one. Porsche has its ‘nicks and dings’ too (lol), sometimes. Hmmm... Since you did a direct comparison to the C4S, I would go for the Porsche. Much more open feeling, better viability, and I think it sounds better. 12s do sound great, but that flat six does it for me. That forward viability is like the 308. I'm positive I'm going to bash both wings every time I pull it in the garage. For the same price would you have the DB11 or C4S?
I don't think I would have this as a daily like the 911 can be.
But, I do understand a purely emotional connection. You sure looked like you were enjoying yourself :)

In Britain this car is described as ‘quite good’ which can mean anything from amazing to terrible, but here it means amazing

The wood trim on the Aston is delicious, I wished that more car manufactures let customers opt for wood trim in their sports cars. Especially Mercedes's AMG and BMW M divisions, they both have penchant for fitting fake aluminum and carbon fiber trims on their cars.
Nick, you hit your zenith with the Prius. It's been all down hill since then...Where do I--who has not yet hit his zenith, get one of these wonderful $250,000 cars so I can watch trim pieces fall off? Tui needed the cover so when the springs pop out of the back seat they won't prick her...

For those w/o the silver spoon, I recommended the Jag F-Type R/SVR as a nice compromise. Plus your chances are being near a servicing dealer are a lot higher. R/SVR sounds much better alsol
Not as fast but just as beautiful with a better interior and reliability factor is the Lexus LC500.

Levent Ergün No, they released the Vanquish replacement - a different market sector. But, more importantly, they also released the DB11 AMR, which is an embarrassingly quick update (and replacement) to the DB11, which now has better suspension tuning, revised transmission mapping, and 630bhp. It's also, in my opinion at least, better looking than the new DBS.

Btw... I got a Subaru crosstrek. I used a roof rack and basket for a while. Got 26 mpg (instead of 30) and about 1 second extra to 60. It would be ridiculous to put that crap on my 911. Really cool how you let chewie ride in the 911...
It is always good to have two emergency rear seats in case of a zombie apocalypse, at least you can save your parents and still have room for one gorilla.
I wish I had those 360 degree cameras. Would have saved me using a butt-load of "sentence enhancers" today in a car-park.
The 911 isn’t as quick - but for me it sounds better, and is the more exciting car

Very honest question here Nick - would you rather this DB11 or the Vanquish S? The NA V12 in the Vanquish sounds godlike, whereas the DB11 sounded very underwhelming in person. Starting to look into a GT car to counter my 991 GT3. Cheers!
You are so right about the NA V12 being the best however the way everything else on the Vanquish does not either work or only sort of works would drive me nuts.
Nick Murray reliability is a scary thing, especially on Aston Martin's, damn. Well, if you're ever interested in reviewing a 991.1 GT3 that's straight piped and ECU flash tuned let me know :) I'm in Westchester county
Am I one of the only ones who still thinks the old DBS still looks better? I don't dislike this car, but one thing that really bothers me a lot is the stupid digital instrument cluster. I hate them in all sports cars, especially for an Aston. Aston always had such beautiful instruments. That means a lot to me since you are always looking at them.

Nick- please let me handle the drag race portion of your videos from now on. I’ll drive your 911 properly, I mean it’s still going to get it’s ass kicked most of the time but not the decimation that it’s currently experiencing on a regular basis. You def should have been in first gear there to atleast give it a fighting chance, I’m sure the Aston being a ZF automatic probably kicked down to first so there wasn’t a snowballs chance in hell of the 911 doing anything but watching it disappear

Has anyone had experience with an Aston? How difficult to live with for let’s say, 5k miles a year? CPO Warrantied and all. Do you just loose your car for months at a time whilst they fix that power centre console?
