“5 shots couldn’t drop me I took it and smiled” one of my favorite lyrics of all time

But that line didn't age well
He didnt smile he was paranoid all day even having bad dreams about it + bodyguards.

The end where pac is going off always gives me goose bumps shit was crazy!
Yea how could they say he didn’t sound intimidating
That’s the bet bit ong
@@kdizzle901 I think maybe dad didn't want to give any praise to something he thinks was so hateful.. because It's one of Pac biggest qualities.. tone of his voice was genuine and from the gut.. dad probably wanted to stay far away from that real shit lol
For real he actually put out a song that said "I'm going to kill you and you and you" and meant it.
@@kdizzle901 never heard anyone say that but i'll give it a go he was a feminine man nothing more
This why pac is so loved. He hit every emotion of a human. We get mad, sad, happy etc.

I was too young to understand 5-6, I would love to read about it tho
Yeah
I was so nervous for your Dad lol. He took it in stride. Tupac was a complex person. Love all his stuff.
I just started watching these and I got so nervous that his dad wouldn't still appreciate Pac😂. I am loving this concept.
Can you show your dad some Tupac interviews? He deserves to have more context to who Tupac was and WHY he's so beloved after all these years!
THIS!!
plz
Very true! Pac was amazing and the way how he talks was emotional so many times because he told the painful true about corruption, police and discrimination other nations, poor hungry and homeless people about problem with drugs 😢
Exactly. The jail interview. The speech in front of the black expo. His one sided conversation to the judge who sentenced him saying he couldn’t even look him in eye. I wonder if dad even knows he’s the son of a Black Panther who was one of the NY21. Lot more context
Yeah straight
No matter lyrical ability of any other artist or track .... this is THE ALL TIME HARDEST DISS TRACK EVER. No subliminals, no bs ...

Pac had the best sound engineers....His voice at the end had so much passion and the music started to go into the background for a dramatic effect.
This is what we love about Pac. He can go from keep your head up to hit em up with ease!
Dude. I absolutely love your knowledge and honesty. I'm 40 and I would NEVER have this discussion with my parents / dad. I envy this. You guys are awesome.
That's sad. I'm around your age and my whole family went to the 2pac movie that came out in the early or mid 2000s. Mom, Dad, lil bro, Aunt, lil cousin (she was like 10), and my older cousin, and maybe my uncle if I remember correctly. We went to the one at like 5 or 530 because we wanted to beat the crowd. My family loved 2pac, my mom even bought my lil brother a system so he could bump 2pac in his wrangler. Lol. My parents, even used to sing along with Eminem. Hah.
His googled knowledge.
Bro love this channel but what explained to his dad is basically a google search away. Nonetheless, its a good vid
It better that way I'll say
Sadly, he’s actually inaccurate with some of his knowledge.. PAC wasn’t in debt his accounts were frozen due to the rape allegations in NY. And PAC approached Suge and even wrote out his own contract with death row. Suge and his lawyers refused to pay artists anything other than a monthly allowance. PAC would ask for an accounting of what he owed to repay the bail money and would be given a car, house and more. Suge was worse than Jerry heller and Diddy put together.
When your dad said ...so this rapper is supporting Tupac 😂😂😂 I bust out laughing man I love how he's trying to understand hip Hop
I was a white girl at age 10 or 11 when this dropped and I understood his rage at that level and felt every bit of it growing up in a shitty childhood - his music was SUPER powerful for people going through the struggles he went through - also it made me feel not white even for just four minutes 😅 track goes so hard
This song still give me shivers when I hear it. The rage, the anger, the retaliation. I feel all of that. They would say Pac was delusional about what transpired when he was shot but this man KNEW!
t pac grew up privileged he should have stuck to what he did best and not pretend to be someone else he faked that persona and where did it get him?
Facts 💯
Did he? Is that even what happened? Do _you_ know?
Call the cops when you see Tupac !
The fact that he has such a positive view of 2 Pac and understood that he was pissed off on that song but still couldn’t accept him as a villian 👌🏽 not only says a lot about 2 Pac as an artist but shows that Dad isn’t here to judge anyone based on the perception presented to him 💯 that’s dope fr
that's what got me to subscribe
“My four four makes sure all your kids don’t grow” one of the hardest lines in hip hop
facts
I think what's even harder is "now it's all about Versace you copied my style, 5 shots couldn't drop me I took them and smiled"
A man involved in a shooting that ended up with a dead child threatening to kill more children is not ‘hard’
Hard lines need to be facts and not fiction! Give me a "By this industry, I'm trying to not get fucked like tupac in jail" over a fictional throw-away-line
Killing kids is the softest sh&t there is
I love that he said “I’m buckled in tight for this one” he knew he was finna go for a ride 🤣😂😂
The hardest and most disrespectful diss track of all time.🔥🔥🔥
No Vaseline is the best by far.
The hardest diss track ever made. I was 12 when it came out and even at that age the rage was palpable and I understood it.
Dad is trying to relate to his son in a way that few fathers would or could, he loves his son without a doubt.
Your dad's accent is golden. I enjoy every moment of his authentic reactions and his enthusiasm to learn more about hip hop culture. It's a great reminder of the rewards of having a beginners mind when encountering a "different" culture. The two of you inspire me to support conversations around art as a way to bring people closer. You have shown that it is possible to be exceptional with readily available equipment and popular art.
This dad is so sweet so is the son they are awesome together
I highly recommend Tupac Resurrection. A documentary narrated in Pac’s own voice. It’s beautiful
Yes, I reckon his dad would appreciate watching it.
+1 to this
Yep but it was copy paste from interviews to Pac tell his story and sentences.
Brilliant suggestion!
Thug Angel is a much better documentary, imo. It's on youtube, the full doc. super good
Yeah this will bring some historical context to Dad but dont think he'll particularly like this tune, maybe soon can show him "Ghetto Gospel" to get him back on Pac.
Or his post humorous track with NaS “ghetto mansion”
@@ddl3718 isn’t it posthumous?
@@MRFittedcap5950 post humour, that’s like the post modern form of humour 🤣🤣

But then please don't do the Elton John version (where Pac's voice has been slowed down to fit the Elton tune) but do the original version from '92.

I was around 15 when this song came out and me and my crew had been bumpin “All Eyez On Me” for months. This was back when we were playing cds and tapes lol, and Hit Em up came out on the B-side of How do you want it single. My dad actually bought it and gave it to me. I knew from the first time I heard it that this was not going to end well, you could hear the rage in Pac’s voice. He was pissed. But his goal was to make a song that straight dug in the hearts of Bad Boy, but also be something that Biggie couldn’t escape because it was such a good song, they would hear it in clubs. He succeeded as we STILL bump this shit. And Puffy did an interview not long ago where he actually gave the song some props and said that it still hurts to this day lol. Too bad that it resulted in the deaths of two of the greatest of my generation and of all time!!
Rest in power, Pac! We still Hit Em up 💯

I love how open dad is... Some dad's would have been turned off by this one. But I love how your dad handled this one, and I think having references and background on the artist definitely helps. You guys are great! If you decide to do more diss tracks or battles, try Jay-Z's Takeover vs Nas's Ether. It's not as intense as, say Pac v Biggie, a little more commercial if you as me, but still great tracks from a lyrical perspective.
Ether? commercial? its straight facts!!! he straight won the battle with ether, jay himself admitted it!
@@firstchoice4527 Commercial as in it's way more digestible to an old white guy, I know since I've tried doing this with my dad, a 58 year old Norwegian. Like they mentioned Many Men, which is not as in you face aggressive as Hit Em Up, the beat and intensity of Pac basically screaming on the outro.
This is an opinion, not correcting you :)

Your dad is so pure and sweet, with a beautifully open mind. I bought 2pac cds and posters as a teen and my dad ripped them off the wall, and threw my cds away cos he heard me listening to Hit em up and lost the plot. I love this channel. Your knowledge and dads open mind is so dang refreshing. I still remember the day Tupac died, I was 16 and my whole school was in mourning. He was so ahead of his time and so intelligent. Pac was a philosopher rap was just his delivery. To this day I still listen to Tupac there will never be another like him.
The rapper Yaki Kadafi (Outlawz) is Tupac’s god brother (both of their parents were black panthers) and they’re a couple years apart. They were very close and he passed two months after Tupac. RIP to Tupac, Yaki Kadafi, and Biggie 🕊
Edit : I think your dad would enjoy the singing and instrumentals on Thuggish Ruggish Bone by Bone Thugs N Harmony !

This was the cutest thing for many reasons. I love the way you prepare your dad for what he’s about to hear. It seems you were hesitant because of the amount of respect you have for your father. You also didn’t want to ruin the image your dad has of Tupac in his mind. I personally believe Tupac could do no wrong In your dads yes. Taking a man for his whole self is important. Pac didn’t take any shit. He was a loving soul and a great person. This side of him no doubt led to his death but I find parts of that side of him that I respect too. It’s sad but a man is who he is.
I was a huge Pac fan before this song. I lost a great deal of respect for him because of it. I didn’t like Biggie one bit before his death, but hearing stories of things he did for people and how he impacted others I came to like him a little better. So, yeah it’s important to take people as a whole. Oddly, I remember this being shocking at first but not that popular until after the movie.

Always rated Against all odds as Pacs best diss track. He actually goes at the people who were behind the shooting and lays it all out. Its much deeper. Hit em up was sensational for it's raw anger but it's pretty simplistic in content.

Hey guys!! Always fascinating to be with you both!! I love the education for your father and the view of two generation!! Excellent
When I saw you did this song of all songs after I saw your Dear Mama and Changes video my anxiety shot through the roof 😂 I was most anxious about the first words that Pac said and was relieved your dad missed it just for you to play it back 😭 Lawd!
This took me back… Tupac was raging mad. And he was wholly serious. And was thinking everyone was setting him up. I felt his rage. But I was also listening real time.
Love how interested dad is in the backstory and really still pays attention to the music and lyrics and notices things he finds funny in this video. Keep the vids coming 👍🏼
When I first heard this I cried towards the end of the song. I ❤ 2Pac and it made me sad to see how mad and upset he was.
I think there are songs by 2Pac that express very real anger & he can get scary. The thing is, you can’t love someone unless you SEE them, you KNOW them. You’re just starting out with him. The more you listen & learn about him, the deeper love you’ll find for him. Every time I listen to his music I hear something new. “No More Pain” is one that comes to mind. 2Pac is one of my favorite artists of all time, watching someone else appreciate him - all his soulfulness & dignity, mixed with his anger & sometimes brutality is a real treat for me.
I didn’t know how your dad would take this song. Good stuff as always

I just have to say watching this makes me think of my dad and how much we love Tupacs music we were able to share it and one of his favorite songs was California Love. We played that on the way to my dad’s funeral. I just wanted to share that because music unites us and Tupac is a lyricist and his music was beyond anything ever made. You could be listening to his music no matter what genre you’re into and no matter the years passed. It’s transcendent.

The bassline on Hit 'Em Up is actually the same one as the bassline on Paid in Full by Eric B. & Rakim, meaning your dad has heard the bassline before. Both tracks sample the bassline from Dennis Edwards' track Don't Look Any Further
I’m glad to see someone sharing these types of moments with their father. I showed my dad a few Tupac songs, the “tender” ones. He passed away a few years later. Enjoy your dad while you still have him. You earned a sub from me.
