President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. accorded arrival honors for His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, in a ceremony at the Kalayaan Grounds, Malacañan Palace on April 22, 2024.
His Highness the Amir is on a historic two-day State Visit to the Philippines upon the invitation of the Chief Executive, coinciding with the 43rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1981.
The Philippines is the first stop of His Highness the Amir’s three-nation swing in Asia as part of its strategy to deepen cooperation and partnership with the continent, given its political and economic significance as well as being a vital gateway to achieving food security and maintaining international peace and stability.
Following the arrival honors, President Marcos Jr. introduced his delegation comprised of Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Secretary Enrique Manalo (Department of Foreign Affairs), Secretary Alfredo Pascual (Department of Trade and Industry), Secretary Maria Esperanza Christina Frasco (Department of Tourism), Secretary Raphael Lotilla (Department of Energy), Secretary Jaime Bautista (Department of Transportation), Secretary Ma. Antonia Yulo Loyzaga (Department of Environment and Natural Resources) and Secretary Frederick Go (Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs).
Thereafter, the Chief Executive invited His Highness the Amir inside Malacañan Palace where the state visitor signed the guest book.
