The reason why Puertoricans love their flag is because once the U.S invaded P.R in 1898, they took away Puertorican flag from Puertoricans, making it a crime flying the Puertorican flag making a “ gag law” and imprisonment for up to 10 years by the insular police by U.S. , sad that many people don’t know the history behind. P.R was given the opportunity to get their flag back in 1952.
We are very proud of our flag and that is a result from a period of time where it was illegal to fly the flag in Puerto Rico. The PR government actually banned it because of a power struggle (if I remember correctly) and it lasted over a decade. The reason why Puertoricans love their flag is because once the U.S invaded P.R in 1898, they took away Puertorican flag from Puertoricans, making it a crime flying the Puertorican flag making a “ gag law” and imprisonment for up to 10 years by the insular police by U.S. , sad that many people don’t know the history behind. P.R was given the opportunity to get their flag back in 1952.

We are very proud of our flag and that is a result from a period of time where it was illegal to fly the flag in Puerto Rico. The PR government actually banned it because of a power struggle (if I remember correctly) and it lasted over a decade. Now, we fly that flag proudly because we know it can be taken away from us like it was before. ❤️💙💟🇵🇷 #wepa 🇵🇷 ❤️💙💟
