Case 113: PCI Manual - DK crush troubleshooting 2

This was a PCI of an LAD/diagonal bifurcation using the DK crush technique, during which several challenges had to be overcome. Stent delivery was difficult and was achieved with additional lesion preparation and use of a thin strut stent. Rewiring the side branch was challenging was achieved using a polymer-jacketed Sion black guidewire. The side branch guidewire kinked and had to be replaced. Balloon delivery to the side branch was also challenging and was eventually achieved using small balloons, side branch anchoring and rewiring the side branch.

I don´t understand why one would spend so much time, equipment and nerves using this complicated technique for that small branch, that is likely non-viable and not prognostic anyway....
