      Are all the chords he used diatonic to the key the songs in? If not, how do you find a balance between using diatonic and non diatonic chords before making the song sound too atonal?

      I'm definitely not a classically trained musician, but my opinion is you should mess around until you find a balance that you personally like. I tend to enjoy more tonal melodies, but sometimes atonal twists can be fun. The most important thing is you learn all the tools so you're limited only by your imagination, not by your knowledge

    How do you play Copernican Heresy? That song on the new album is absolutely badass!
    Also, I did NOT know that one set of triplets is equal to two notes of that value . For ex., 3 8th note triplets is the same duration as 2 regular 8th notes. I always thought it was one, that's always confused the hell out of me and now I know!

    Its a mix between two tonalities, so that you can chain chromaticly separated chords, like G major and A minor H

    is this in standard? this was crazy useful, I looked at jazz chord lessons by jazz players, but I didn't see how easily they could be used in metal.

    Great lesson. I'm going to be working on incorporating this into my style. Even though I hate jazz lol. Listening to Billy Talent he has that kind of style in his guitar playing and I thinks it sounds really good applied to a heavy setting.

      He makes the music make sense outside of the instrument as well, by showing you the certain note shapes and how they relate to what he's actually teaching..
