Can’t wait for the follow up vid where Linus tries to break his own record by climbing Mt Everest
Yeah huge difference between Mount Elbert and Everest. Maybe he could break it, or anyone for that matter by bringing a couple laptops to Mount Whitney
Yeah..... That isn't even comparable...
Lots of people have been to Everest. The locals are mad that tourists have pooped all over a mountain which they worship
@KingInTheNorth It's objectively bad.
@KingInTheNorth I don't follow them for their opinion on commedy.
I caught altitude sickeness heading up Mt st Helens. Made it to the top, passed out, woke up to find most everyone gone. Started losing my mind and panicking and literally ran the entire length to the forest where I started feeling better till I realized I was alone. Altitude sickness is no joke!
Bro what? I wanna hear how this story ends
That’s a scary experience
@@sprayartist8459 I got lucky and blindly followed the path while it got dark. It was very disorienting and scary but eventually I made it to the prep area. I then konked out in a truck bed after eating a bunch of oranges.
@@sprayartist8459 It’s really common, happened to me many times when I rushed mountain hikes… My friend didn’t want to leave the peak and forgot who his entire friend group even was (not like Alzheimer’s forgot - but like mind-wipe we never existed forgot). He lay in the snow making snow angels for two hours until we convinced him we were mountain rescue and a snow storm was coming and he’d been reported in danger. 6 hours later at sea level he was back to normal and remembered everything.
I don't understand how there's people that would abandon someone who have passed out on the top of a mountain

TL;DR: it's Tek Syndicate. When addressing Logan and Pistol's alleged misappropriation of funds in 2016, Linus said, "I haven't worked with anyone over there since HighLANder." It's in this older WAN show with Taran and Sevadus: czcams.com/video/X1v7H0NJwEw/video.html. I don't know the one individual who they're specifically referring to who treated the whole thing like a competition, but the one who ran off on Luke is Jimmy, Tek Syndicate's old editor. They mention that in the LTT HighLANder video.
Based
Ope
They've since collabbed with Wendel, but he's no longer associated with tek syndicate.
Yeah I forgot who did the lan party, so I googled it. The second I read "Tek Syndicate" I was like "yup, that's gotta be who it was"
Dude is pompous, i can see it.
That last bit at the end, about how every relationship is work: So true. I have literally only had one relationship in my life where it didn’t require work ever, and it was just because we were such similar people.
Mn here
same, I has some people I like and considered a lot of them a friend but there's just one person that I trust and would have sticked together with or without work opportunity
Even with my closest friend in the world, who i talk to every day, it took and does take a lot of work, and there's been ups and downs. Even just becoming her friend took a lot of work to prove i can be trusted. And it was the greatest thing ive ever done. Friendships take work but they are absolutely WORTH IT.
If you don't work for it, it isn't that important to you. And when that other person, at some point acknowledges even a little of the work you put in, their respect and love for you deepens. And it works both ways.
There was death in Luke's eyes, and it wasn't his own. Lol. Honestly, after things went down with the people involved, I'm not surprised.
Linus isn't wrong. As someone closer to Luke's bodytype and my best friend being damn close to identical to Linus's , the times I've been mad have been an apparently scary experience. It's something I have to keep hold of at my work because a normal annoyed look from anyone else looks like death approaching from me.
Their ability to just be realistic and reflect back on things and growing together and learning from them is honestly inspirational; I wish more people did this. ❤️
Really? I do not really see anyone taking responsibility for anything! Just referencing a unnamed person.
It seems to be something Linus organized and organized so badly lives were endangered, luckily no one died. Nowhere in the video does he take any responsibility for ALL the balls he dropped!
He mentions that not anyone went in with the same expectations and glosses over the fact that he seemingly didn't inform anyone of what needed to be done and was expected of them.
@@Nemesis-pe7mw that last paragraph sounds a lot like admitting he made mistakes
gay
@@La_sagne No it doesn't! Identification of a problem and taking responebiliy are two different things.
He clearly blames the one who should not be named. Which means he is most defenitly not seeing himself as the root cause thus hasn't taken said responsebility!
Further he ends with how could I have known. Using ignorance as a defense.
This isn't realistic, there's a power dynamic here.
my fav thing is that , they're just such good friends at the end of the day
Notice how luke said "working together" and not "working for" thats the key difference. Also we all know it was shady ass Tek Syndicate lol
It was 100% Syndicate. Good Lord, I forgot that dude existed.

Apparantly they are still going! Barely...
But damn i'm glad Wendell split from them, althought it's sad how little reckognition lvl1techs get.
What's the deal with them? I didn't catch from the video.
As a moderately experienced hiker... I want very much to personally throw hands at the people who thought that the hike should automatically be a competition. I might break their keyboards too.
yeah in tough terrain that attitude only gets ya in trouble
@@jamescanjuggle and high altitude counts as tough terrain even if it's flatter than Kansas.

I think the only time is when you are hiking with people you have hiked with dozens and dozens of times and you all know each others limits and even then the "competition" is surface level and bottom line you look out for each other make sure everyone is safe. Hiking in the middle of nowhere is no joke.
LINUS LEAVES EMPLOYEE STRANDED ON MOUNTAIN
now there's a title that would get clicks
Yeah but change that to LINUS LEAVES LUKE STRANDED ON MOUNTAIN and you'd get ppl saying "oh yeah, I'd understand that" 😆
Interesting that with hindsight, Luke accepts Linus as a leader and Linus himself as naive. Great relationship, teamwork and story.
Luke walking down a mountain channeling the spirit of Doom Guy
Such a realistic discussion. It made me appreciate how my friends and I deal with each other all the time. I usually just take our butting heads one day and rubbing shoulders the next for granted but this kind of reminded me that it’s only that way because of our mutual conscious decision to be patient with one another.
It's always nice to hear grown men admit to crying because of something that was apparently a heartfelt emotional HR issue. I already felt that you all at LMG had heart and soul, but hearing that was the capstone/cherry on top. I wish I could have worked for a company like LMG back in my younger days. I wish more companies were like this. Especially when considering what is about to come down the pike, it sounds like such an adventurous journey. It's nice to be reminded that the company behind the videos I enjoy isn't a soulless and heartless entity. You guys rock. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take a trip down memory lane. And this time, the lane goes back up a really tall mountain. 😉
What's about to come down the pike?
@@adfaklsdjf The LMG Labs testing/rating project. It could shake up how many consumers decide what to buy if it turns out like they envisioned it. I agree. Downhills can really destroy your knees. It's also very dangerous; it's possible to trip and literally tumble to your death. It aint a joke if it's all rocks. Laceration death.
@@loloioi sled
Haven't climbed anything rocky for a loooong time but on basically any steep surface downhill is scarier and harder, uphill you basically just fall and that's it, downhill both sliding and tumbling can destroy you to a varying degree. Where I'm from people are threading on a veeery safe side though, and any competitiveness gets shunned down by pretty much anyone past their teens at least. It is impudent to brag, the nature will have its due. And it is completely unacceptable to leave others behind and not offer help, that bystander ethics is questionable in cities but is outright a big no-no when hiking...

To be fair, fear, especially when lighting strikes near, can release a LOT of adrenaline that can make someone temporarily forget that they’re exhausted. However, if they weren’t even MORE exhausted after the adrenaline wore off, that is sus.
Adrenaline and other neurotransmitters can definitely push your body to never before experienced limits.
And being "wired", "charged" or whatever you wanna call it can take some time to wear off. You don't just run a minute from a threat and sit down to relax, i don't think that's how the survival instict works ^^

man i have a legitimate fear of lightning (even indoors). I would have gone full flight mode if i were in Luke's shoes
Not if you got a nice form of altitude Sickness. If you had it, it could be as little as a bit of a Headache and Stomache issues, which aren't those bad. In more severe Caes tough, well.... Severe Stomache sickness, vomiting, migrane, passing out can be common. And many are very, very confused, confused in a way you'd think they have taken a nice Blend of 10 of the finest Drugs you could get your Hands around.
Those People wouldn't enter flight Mode. Either because they simply aren't able to understand their Situtation proper, or because they are so fucked, that they are barely able to move anyway. Can't run, if you can't even walk.
Why out of everything is it lightning you are afraid of?
I live in the mountains so I’ve never had to deal with altitude sickness, but from what I’ve heard it’s rough
For us "seaside slickers" 3000m+ is really tough at first. Must rest every couple of steps even when walking on flat ground. Its like every bit of willpower and strength is sucked out of you + massive headache.
Climbing 14k+ foot mountains is no joke. It takes forever, you have to leave super early, and there is no guarantee of who will be affected by altitude sickness. And downhill is hell on your knees and calves. I highly recommend a trekking pole if you're carrying a load downhill. It's a testament to Luke and Linus's friendship that they can speak so well of the many conflicts they must have had working together for over a decade. I've seen the tightest friendships break bc from going into a business together.
I have had altitude sickness once during a trek in Colorado. I never had it in any of my treks before that even during other high altitude treks. It sucked and took about 24 hours for me to acclimate properly.
Yeah Colorado does things like that to you. BTW this LAN party they’re talking about was in Colorado
yalls positively about negative situations always make my day
Luke has so much more patience than me. 😂
Any relationship worth having is one worth working on. None are ever perfect because none of us are and that's ok. In the end it makes things stronger for having worked on it.
If this is accurate, and not sugarcoated, seems like Linus is legitimately a good boss. That's refreshing to hear. I mean we kind of get a peak at that when he goes to his employees' houses to do the Intel Make-over videos and sees all the stuff they "borrow/buy" from the office.
I would say the best evidence that Linus is a good boss would be the fact that we almost never see anyone leaving the company, I think they said somewhere they have a turnover rate of about 12%. So seeing is there currently at over 100 staff members, that means 12 people quitting or getting fired every year, which is quite low. It's usually somewhere in the 20 to 40% range with 30% or less being considered healthy.
I would genuinely love to work at LMG, even if I was just testing basic components before a video. I would happily live on site in a cardboard box.

I sympathize because once I was dragged out on semi climbing route by awkward programmer and his girlfriend. The weather started to get worse and guy said he’ll slowly start going down and wait for us. Almost an hour later helping her down in awful downpour and repeating same answer about where her friend I walked around an edge and stopped dead in tracks because I saw the guy few hundred meters down - running - and not having a single look behind.
She was suddenly happy “do you see him?”, I could only say “yes”, she came around and stopped, and simply said “oh”. And that was it.
Guy later tried to explain his stupidly “intelligent” way of reasoning that the sooner we all got down the sooner we’d be safer and he didn’t think for a moment that I also wouldn’t run down leaving his girl behind.

Now I’m not well trained at all and I usually sound like a steam locomotive on the first few hikes (I’m a tall fat guy that should tell you everything) but I never experienced altitude sickness not even on the Zugspitze, well I got to admit I haven been mich higher than that so I may be susceptible at higher altitudes…
Now I kinda wanna know what (North-) Americans do on vacation if not hiking, visiting towns or relaxing…
