The crumbly, dry fall apart texture, they are to be eaten with coffee usually.Here, if there's coffee in it, it'll say coffee flavored or coffee infused. I am pleasantly surprised with this reaction ^ ^ Although I would've sent salt and vinegar Cape Cod chips personally lol (I can't even eat half a whoopie pie though; and its our state dessert - its just so sweet, it takes me a while to eat one)

A life-long resident of Minnesota, I remember Boston Baked Beans candy being a staple of the candy counter at the corner store as a kid. You can still find them at different shops here and there, but it takes some looking. They're a product of Ferrara Pan Candy, which is based in Chicago, so they're a very midwest thing here in the States.

Someone probably already mentioned this but American coffee cakes don't have coffee in them. They call them that because you eat them with coffee. That crumbly soft texture is supposed to go perfectly with coffee.

I am a Mainer now living in Texas. Moxie is famous in New England. Moxie is bitter-sweet. You either love it or hate it. No middle ground. I always buy cases of it when I visit Maine. The jalapeno potato chips are relatively new. An interesting note: I work in a Texas prison and the prisoners will break up the jalapeno chips and mix them with hot water and make a soup. Surprisingly good. Sadly they couldn't send you Maine lobsters or clams called quahogs. Another treat for us are Italian sandwiches. They are very simple. A long submarine roll with luncheon meat like ham or salami, cheese, sliced tomatoes, Bell pepper, onions and pickles with a dash of flavored oil with salt and pepper. I will put the same ingredients together but it doesn't taste like Maine. A gentleman from Maine opened a Maine-style Italian sandwich in Houston where he also sells Lobster Rolls which is lobster meat mixed with mayonnaise served on a submarine roll. The man started with one shop in Houston and the sandwiches took off and he now has 3 shops. Plus, he sells Moxie!

Finally, contrary to what Hollywood would have you believe, not everyone in Maine talks with what is actually known as a Downeast accent. In my opinion, though, the best examples of a Downeast accent are Marshall Dodge, and Tim Sample. Two of Maine's greatest humorists. In another video of people trying Maine snacks, I learned something new: 90% of the blueberries consumed in the United States are produced in Maine. 😉
