Even if China has a larger economy than Putin, what possible gain if China was to use that against Russia during a period of weakness? That is what the US and the EU does, and they ended up with a war.

    President Xi treated President Putin as his equal. He is accorded the highest honor. He is well respected in China. When Blinken came calling, he is treated with disdain. He lacked sincerity. This is how the Chinese valued a person, not his wealth or strength but Sincerity and trust.

    I don't understand why Europe be unhappy that China maintain closer relationship with Russia and say if China wants good relationship with EU, then they shouldn't be friendly to Russia. Besides being absurd, it is also unreasonable. When EU officials followed what US did by deliberately visiting Taiwan to irk the Chinese, did they spare a thought about maintaining goodwill with China.

    Russia is not a problematic ' ally' for China. In fact, it is blessing for China. Without Russia, China alone could not handle the pressure from US and its client states. With Russia , it tied down US /NATO from targeting China alone, thus buying time for China to strengthen herself on all fronts. Organised crime synidicate, as what the guest says Russia is, is definitely appropriate to describe the western country across the Pacific ocean.

    With all the nukes and energy that China needs, Russia is not quite a junior partner. If one pulls out a calculator, China might seem the stronger side, but underestimating Russia will be a mistake.
    Putin has already suggested that Chinese farmers work on parts of Siberia. Intergration is the way to go to defuse any historical gradiences.
