    3. Cellular events of acute Inflammation ( Animation )
Inflammation is characterized by a series of cellular events orchestrated to eliminate pathogens and promote tissue repair. The process involves various immune cells, including neutrophils, macrophages, lymphocytes, and mast cells. Initially, neutrophils are recruited to the site of inflammation in response to chemotactic signals released by damaged tissues. These neutrophils phagocytose pathogens and release antimicrobial substances to combat infection. Macrophages, another key player, also migrate to the inflamed tissue and phagocytose pathogens, debris, and apoptotic cells. They release cytokines and chemokines, which amplify the inflammatory response and recruit additional immune cells. Lymphocytes, particularly T and B cells, contribute to adaptive immunity by recognizing specific antigens and generating antigen-specific immune responses. Mast cells are involved in the early stages of inflammation, releasing histamine and other inflammatory mediators in response to tissue injury or allergens. Overall, these cellular events of inflammation coordinate a complex immune response aimed at eliminating pathogens and restoring tissue homeostasis.
