    Instead of using 123456789. Use 12345679. That will give you the same digit all the way across.

    I've learned this one a long time ago, but one difference: get rid of the 8! 12345679 and x times 9 is all X's no zero at all!

  • @MFramy
    @MFramy Před 2 lety +3

    If you take out the 8, so - 12345679, you will get rid of that 0

    If you leave out the 8 in the original number (using 12345679) you can eliminate the 0 in the answer.

      This is how we used to test out side-slung calculators for the inventory company I worked for when I was 18 (a thousand years ago). Input 12345679 and multiply it times multiples of 9.

    • @splodeyferret
      @splodeyferret Před rokem +1

      This is also another way to present the trick. Ask them what their least favourite number between 1 and 9 is. Then tell them your least favourite number is 8 (if they say that too just say you agree, and it comes out even better). Then you put in numbers omitting 8 like this, as far as your calculator goes: 123456790.12345679012345679.... then you multiply it by nine times their number, e.g. 45, or if they said 8 then 72. You will get e.g. 8888888888.88888888

      just because its part of some tv show doesnt make it okay
      there is a lot of racism in old shows - do you go spewing that about?
      i dont care much about the phrase either way - but if someone directly tells you "this is hurting me, please dont say that" - then telling them in response to that that they should just be fine with that is not helping - its doing the opposite
