  • Let me take you on a step-by-step journey of my trip from (Argentina)Buenos Aires to (Uruguay) Colonia to Montevideo using the boat/ferry and bus. What are the requirements to get in? How much is the cost? How long was the travel?

    This is very helpful, thank you for sharing your trip to Uruguay. I will need to go there during my transition to Argentina. Your video makes my transition less intimidating. Ciao

      Glad it was helpful! It was also intimidating for me at the beginning, but the more I settled in and the more I met people, Argentina was easy to love. More vids to come! :)

    I'm not sure about the Casino, but the area just north of the Colonia Express terminal is Puerto Madero - lots of bars, restaurants, and shops... also very expensive :)

      Thanks for the info! I did go to Puerto Madero and met up with a few friends. It's a beautiful boardwalk and yes you are right, a little pricey. :) Although if you go for happy hour, the beer price is not that bad. I like walking around there too on the weekends.

    I think the self-check in kiosks are for Argentine and Uruguayan passport holders 18 y.o. and up (I think there's a sign saying this)

    • @ljchosen
      @ljchosen  Před rokem +1

      Thank you so much Wayne! :) I honestly don't know if it is only for locals or saw the signs at all.
      But coming back from Montevideo to Buenos Aires, we used the self check-in kiosk and it worked for us. All it needed was the reservation number. And it printed us our tickets.

    Hi LJ, thanks for this post, I’m hoping I can do this next year, can I buy tickets for colonia express on the spot or do I have to book it in advance and how much was it?

      So we arrived around 1ish PM. so 7 am (check-in) that would be around 6 hours total. The ferry ride along is approx 3.5 hours.

    We're planning to take the ferry & bus from BA to Montevideo as well. Did you buy the ferry & bus combo tickets online or at the mall? Please provide a link to buy the combo tickets if you've made the purchase online as I've searched but couldn't find it. Thanks

    • @ljchosen
      @ljchosen  Před 5 měsíci

      Hello. I got my tickets at a mall - Alto Palermo (Top Floor). I have not tried booking it online. And it’s cheaper if you use cash too. (assuming you exchanged USD with the blue rate)

    • @megatran2010

      Thank you for your quick reply. Yes, I've figured it would be much cheaper to purchase locally & pay cash in Arg Pesos due to the crazy currency exchange rates between the official & blue markets but I didn't want to wait. Additionally, the ferry + bus will take 6 to 7 hrs long vs fly for only an hr so we've decided to fly instead. Thanks again. Keep on travel & enjoy life as much as we can. Best of luck!

    Is there a cheaper option to to go for the day ?

    • @ljchosen
      @ljchosen  Před rokem

      I think there’s a bus only option from BA to Montevideo but it’s not a direct one bus only ride. And it will take you more or less 8 hours. Needs a little extra planning too. Although I have not tried it.
