when she's in the northern mountain area, she blows her warm breath into her hands to try to warm them up.

The first time I was surprised by a detail in this game, was when you're still a child, and saw how she loses her balance as she's running down stairs, and reaches for the steps with her hands as she runs up them.
When she's near canyons or cravasses, of she talk loudly, such as when falling, you can hear a very awesome echo.

The number of animations they have of her going over objects surprised me. I was 20 hours in and saw her do a jump over a rock I hadn't seen before. Also there's different animations depending how far you've sprinted.
ikr? the first thing that grabbed my attention was the rain. Whenever it rained, if you have close up on each character model, you can see the droplets set into their clothes and bounced off their armour plates! Love the attention to detail like these!
Horizon zero dawn is one of the best games out there (in my opinion) super great graphics, I love to fight the machines, and I just love the story.

My eyes almost explodes when I saw this graphics, really amazing and beautiful, plus is really fun game.
The game really is beautiful. I saw it at GameStop, but I figured it’d be the usual “pictures on the box are better than the game” thing, but when I finally bought it (just for the music, the soundtrack is amazing), I couldn’t believe the graphics.
Honestly saying...I wouldn't describe the game as 'fun'...although its fun to just roam around and kill things. The story actually is pretty much an emotional journey
If you go to photo mode and zoom to aloy, you can see her wrinkles and skin pores... even the texture of her tanned leather.

Phil Anson nah there's no gravity on your shots. Shoot arrows into the sky on the lowest draw. They don't come back down.

@HBDiniz _10 I agree. No offense Jonjo, but I do believe BotW far outclassed hzd in the exploration department. And while hzd’s story is incredible, it is a lot more linear and limited than Botw’s free-roam adventure. These are just my opinions. Don’t bash me for them.

the time speed footage of the dynamic weather, water, plants and day and night cycle looks so realistic to a point that someone can easily mistaken it as a real life footages been recorded from planet earth and national geographic channels.

The weather is so unhelpful in some situations, fog/rain may come unexpectedly and cloud your aim or mask the sound of footsteps of enemies.

That's definitely pretty realistic. Everything also has that haze and as Aloy says 'everythings looming in the rain'

Probably the most impressive thing for me was that puddles evaporate at a realistic rate. You would never know unless you were deliberately looking for it, and the devs still took the probably absurd amount of time necessary.
So much effort put into this game and it really shows. One of my all time favourite.
Just played this game for the 2nd time. Its still an amazing game. But I think all this stuff is the NORM now. I truly dont think this game got the credit it deserved. It is phenomenal. Best game Ive played, maybe ever.

Heh... I remember when first screens of the game were released, some critic declared that Horizon Z.D. will bomb pretty hard due rather "odd" storyline setup... and yet... it turned out that Aloy had have proverbial "last laugh" here . ^_^
You forgot to add the components when dropped on snow, they will form different shapes on snow depending on the size and shape of the component.
Running or walking up hills changes step and pose, few other things but great video

This one isn’t that big of a deal but if you’re standing still on a slope her feet will align with the angle. There aren’t a whole lot of games that do that

In a canyon, if you shoot a fire arrow you can here the sound rebound kinda, but if you shoot it lower, where it wouldn’t make the echo sound it won’t make nois.

Great video, but I think you should have had 29. The Oseram villages have crazy (functioning) machinery, such as water wheels that use the flow of the stream to spin the wheel which then causes a hammer to bash some heated metal. The fact that things like this are just happening in this game, whether you notice them or not, really blew my mind

First time playing I was really surprised when a sandstorm kicked up while in the desert area. Aloy actually seemed bothered by it.
I love hzd, I've finished it four times! Definitely one of my favorite games

I was genuinely surprised at how much can be destroyed . I found some cabin while fighting a saw tooth and decided to hide under it. The sawtooth destroyed it ! XD
A few of the affects have been around in games for a long time. Especially Footprints, since the first Metal Gear Solid on PS1 featured such. Dust and particle affects were seen on PS2 and XBox. But, yeah... Guerrilla Games definitely fine-tuned and polished these affects nicely. As well as a few new affects not seen as often in games.
The only thing that bothered me is that you can slide uphill (and at the same speed as downhill).
All the rest was amazing!

Very old video but got to add one thing: puddles after rain dry up and evaporate if you watch them.
Also can we talk about how after it rains, you can see the puddles slowly shrinking as they dry up in the sun?

The only thing, visual-wise, I didn't like about this game is the facial expressions. Everything else is fine.
and Ubisoft couldn't make any Assassins creed game as beautiful interesting and detailed as HZD. and they had like 10 games of that franchise. gurilla pulled it off on their first RPG. fucking professionals. that's how a game with passion looks like and not just a cash cow

She may sound breathless but she certainly doesn't run out of breath 🤣🤣 Silent Hill did the breathless thing years ago and you actually lost stamina lol. That said, I think I can look past that minor flaw 😛
PC will never have this. AC Origins was still a great way forward.
To be fair: Physics I wouldn't count as a specific strength of HZD. For example (except the grass) nothing reacts to Aloys movement (bushes, trees, etc.). In fact "The Grass" is the only thing where Aloy really can take cover in. Stones do not even fall down steep walls, when you hit a tree with her melee-weapon, there is no effect, enemies may even jump through tree-trunks or stones, etc.

was this played on a ps4 pro ? if so , what mode was it ? was it performance mode or 4k mode ?
Game is played on PS4 Pro with the (4k) high settings selected;)
Jack Smith looks identical on base and pro, the only difference being resolution , and some improved draw distance
I played through it 3 times on a regular PS4 then we got a PS4 pro and had to start from scratch (it was not a good day) but really, I didn't think there was any difference.
Aaron Ennis yeah, I don't game, HZD is the first game I've ever bought for a gaming system, I really suck at everything else but I've gotten gud XD anyway I don't have PS+ so nothing was backed up and my boyfriend traded the old PS for this one and I lost everything. He didn't know it would happen, he has PS+. I mean I guess it didn't take long, I played on story mode to get my things back quickly then jumped on the harder difficulties for NG+. I guess if you have a flash drive you can back up your save files and install them on a new system.

Jumping and climbing was actually bad. No freedom - only one way to do it everything else you mentioned is right on spot.Game is fenomenal - there is some stupidities but all in all it was joy to play and dlc was well worth the money.
The More Stupid thing is like in Zelda, where you can climb everywhere, even on total flat surfaces. So Stupid....
AC: Origins definitely has better water.

Love how they nailed everything except the water physics.
I don't know how they managed to integrate this huge amount of texture units in this game which runs only on a fairly average GPU(radeon 7870). PC fucking sucks, I really wish I had a PS4.
The only thing that really annoys me on this game is the elevators, since they're so slow. Its understandable why they're slow, since they don't have all the same things we have, but its annoying

It's quite difficult to animate fluids in videogames and any kind of virtual reality. Sometimes in videogames you have to trade one thing for others (graphics for physics, animations, etc) It's not easy, you can't have everything on spot.
GZ Broadcast It can be rendered with a very powerful engine, which is not yet possible with our current tech in terms of game engine and real-time animation.
But there are many workarounds. Look at the water of GTA V on Old Gen consoles. It's beautiful, and I do not doubt its just an animated plane, texturized with normal maps, refraction maps and reflections. They can do it if they want to

They fixed that in the patch. Now the water is alot better.
a pity this doesn't have a full game physics. Especially when Aloy swims and walks over plant like the plants weren't there and it was just like a bunch of realistic hologram
I'd hardly say most of these are insane. Games have had wind/movement effects, NPC reactions to player movement, humor, and dynamic weather for several years now. I will admit that the non-facial animation and texture quality are high, but "insane" is definitely pushing it.
