    This is such a great resource for players new to the game! Well made, clearly articulated, and deftly edited, as usual. Every Ix player should watch this.

    I just discovered a really cool combo. Desert Ambush: $3, Fremen, Yellow triangle, "For each troop you deploy this turn, you may force an enemy unit to retreat." $1 and 1Sword
    Intrigue Plot card 'Dispatch An Envoy': The card you play this turn has the following icons: Emperor, Spacing Guild, Bene Gesserit, Fremen.
    Play these 2 cards on Heighliners after a big build up in the conflict zone and send a WHOLE bunch of enemies home!

    • @orski78
      @orski78  Před 2 lety +2

      That is an INSANE combo, I would love to see that pulled off in a match

    If the value of the cards you’re drawing are better because of things you are removing then trashing cards is an excellent strategy. Continually drawing into bad starting cards is never good. Getting some early starts on Selective Breeding is awesome. Gets rid of bad cards, get influence and card draw.

  • @fromundaman
    @fromundaman Před rokem +7

    Great video. I personally disagree with the trashing bad cards though. Like you said, game can go fast, and being stuck with a bad hand that doesn't let you go where you need to go can cost whole games IMO. I do feel some trashing is necessary to win personally.

    • @NeroHeresy
      @NeroHeresy Před rokem +4

      100% agree. Clearing your engine of bad cards is a great strategy and will always ensure good cards are always being played on your turn.

    Lots of good basic strategy suggestions here. I just played my fifth game with my regular group and won for the first time. In my first game I barely knew the mechanics. Then for a couple of games I had an opening strategy but no end strategy. Now I kind of know what I am doing in the end game, and this certainly helps.

    Dune Imperium roles are picked before the start player is decided. You shouldn't decide your role after that has been decided.
    Otherwise good guide. I don't agree everywhere, but it covers the core pretty well.

      But the flop of the imperium row is seen, right?

    • @Riley-lh6cr
      @Riley-lh6cr Před 2 lety +2

      You pick your leader first. Then setup of the Tech Tiles and cards for the imperium row is revealed.

    • @Riley-lh6cr
      @Riley-lh6cr Před 2 lety

      Barely matters anymore. There’s always someone adding some freakin’ home rule to the game. Myself included. I’m guilty for adding one more card to the imperium row. 🙃

    Some feedback: as a player who is quite well familiar with the base game I wished you would have focused more on specific IX interactions/strategies. This video was more a general dune guide imo but what I wanted is to learn the most important IX plays. Keep up the good content though

    Thanks, this was insightful. I am just now getting into the game and this sort of quick rundown of the most important concepts is exactly what i was looking for so i know what to look for when seeing others play and trying to learn from that.

    Wow awesome video and i subscribed mid way in it to. Very insightful. Also made me realize I toally misplayed the 'Kwisatz Haderach" card, and i used it like a normal worker, from my supply to the board, rather then from anywhere on the board to another board space. (That game i lost by 1 point) and as you said, "If played properly, wins the game outright." (Even more eager now to get this game back to the table. :) )
    Thank you for your great video and keep up the great videos. :)

    Do you see cards that are good but cheap? Choose Armand..
    However, you don't see them first. You choose Armand first and then have to hope that the cards get revealed.

    I have a question if anyone can help, thank you!
    On the Liet Kynes card it says "for each Fremen card IN PLAY", does that include the cards you used for your agents too ?
    If we look at the rulebook Icon Guide and Additional Terms is says:
    "In Play - Cards you play on Agent turns and reveal during your reveal turn remain face up and “in play” until you clean up at the end of your Reveal turn (unless they are trashed first)".
    It just seems too OP to be true.
