Saturnite energy. No wonder her drive is great....capricorns work ethic and work
Hi! I'm a lab tech and I am sooooo happy and excited to see that you went in the lab to see what our job is. I'm so happy that my job will finally be seen by people because we work "in the dark" đ Nobody sees what our job really is and how important it is to patient care. I'm looking forward to this episode. Thank you for doing this đ
As some one in pathology services yessssss
As someone who used to work in hospitals I know what an important job is you have.
Siobhan already seems like the most well rounded and grounded person. They deserve some down time and I hope they have a wonderful experience. đ
Reflecting on life, enjoying the moment, and dreaming about the future is what makes us inherently human, what a beautiful vision, congrats!
I agree about the fragility of life. My wife has recurrent ovarian cancer and are preparing for when she passes. One of things we have started doing is spend much more time just sitting next to each other hugging and talking from our hearts, sometimes crying, sometimes remembering the wonderful life weâve had together. Good for you for slowing down for a bit and spending quality time together.
How are you doing?
My wife has one chemo infusion left. Sheâll have a CT scan to see if the cancer is gone this time. The cancer took about 6 months to return last time, so weâll see what happens now.
@@madmoe4 I'm happy to hear everything is going well so far!!!!
â@Madmoe how are things?
She is not good. She has been found to be platinum resistant now, which severely limits options. They are wanting to try an experimental procedure using immunotherapy. Insurance wonât cover it (big surprise) but the drug company has a special program weâve applied for that drastically lowers the cost.
Well done to you and mark you both deserve it, all the hard work and sleepless on call nights you have put in paid off x...
Enjoy life
This sounds amazing! And Iâm glad youâre able to do this with such a supportive partner. Enjoy your hike and time away.
I'm gonna be 100% honest here Siobhan, this video honestly left me semi speechless. Not because I'm like sad or disappointed in any way because I am most defiantly not but because I'm just amazed about how far You, your CZcams Audience and me personally have come in watching these videos as I think I have been watching your Videos for almost a year now and the amount of things I have learned from watching these videos is to me just amazing. Like through out this video when you were reflecting on your time doing call shifts I was kind of asking myself through questions as well. Like I may only be 17 and turning 18 in less than a month and you are undoutably older than me Siobhan but I think those questions are really really deep (obviously to me) and to be honest I almost feel like I won't really understand the value of them until I get older and probably graduate college and find a permanent job for my career. Anyway, this comment is long enough as it is by my standers so to finish it off. I'm really really excited and happy for you that you and mark get to go on a trip to Italy and possibly rome and I hope that you guys have an absoluly wonderful and eye opening time!!! You guys are absolutely positively 100% awesome and keep up the absolutely amazing work!!!! You guys have inspired us (Your CZcams audience) so much and I can't wait to see what you guys end up doing in the future!!!
I love this idea. You two deserve this vision quest! I hope you come back refreshed and get everything you want out of the experience. I did 6 years of college (that was enough for me) and I was very fortunate to have an enjoyable summer, filled with a few fun-filled vacations and our (2 years later) incredible honeymoon.
I canât wait to continue to follow your amazing, inspiring, life! We are all so proud of you! đ
I'm so excited for the next round of videos. Best of luck on your journey through Europe and on the locums you and Mark take on while you're there. Still mind boggling to think you're a board certified specialist now!
Congrats on passing your residency! May you have a happy and fruitful medical career!!
I'm so, so happy for you Siobhan! I'm also very grateful to everything you've done for us, and your courage to tell the world about your life and experiences as a doctor. It's been an amazing journey to follow you on, and I'm hoping you'll love this next chapter of your life!
I can't wait to see all the fun stuff you're up to! I am applying to occupational therapy graduate programs within the next few weeks so I'm absolutely thrilled to hear you'll be investigating a rehabilitation setting! Much love, Siobhan!
I've been watching for a couple years and I am so happy for you!!! Your personality is beautiful & very inspiring. Go Siobhan!!! â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž Take time for yourself and grow & thrive!! Don't worry about your subscribers here ... If you don't want to share we will support you and be here for you when you get back!!
Congratulations Siobhan! Iâve loved seeing your informative, inspiring videos over the years. Hope you and your husband enjoy the hike and take the time to grow, reflect, have fun, and relax after years of hard workđđ»đȘđ»đ
Iâve been following you for a long time and I am so excited to see where your journey takes you!
That vision quest sounds incredible!!!! I love watching your videos youâre so inspiring Siobhan!!!! Thank you for giving us a glimpse into the world of medicine!!! â€ïž
Happy to hear youâre doing this for yourself! Iâve been watching on and off for a while now⊠since you were a student, and itâs so insightful and especially inspiring to see your journeyđ
Congratulations Siobhan! â€ïž have a fantastic time hiking, itâll be such a beautiful journey for you both xxx
Your viewers respect you for who you are, in and out of medicine. This sounds like an amazing adventure! Whatever you feel like sharing, we will appreciate it! And whatever you donât want to share along the way- thatâs okay too! We will cheer you on every step of the way!
I'm so excited for your journey, enjoy every moment and i can't wait to see your coming up videos. You are amazing. I still remember your night shift videos and your pager going off all the time while you were trying to get a little rest.
I can't wait for the the videos on other professions! I love your docs videos, but these are just awesome, how much respect you have for their expertise is great and I love learning so much
This sounds incredible! You have some pretty great intentions going into this big trip. Congratulations, you've earned it!
I'm so excited for your (and your husband's) future, both as doctors but also in your personal lives! You both certainly deserve a break, relaxation, and fulfillment, and I'm so glad you two are working to prioritize that. I look forward to seeing any videos you do choose to create and share. Your videos make me feel excited to discover my passions and work hard to create a better world for others as well as a better life for myself.
As some one in nursing school, I can officially say I hope you take this time for yourself. Enjoy your hike donât worry about videos or anything but being in the moment. I can only imagine the stress of medical school. You have earned this time. Congratulations.
You did all that education and experiences with grace, diligence, and patience. Well done!! You deserve this transition trip and more.
So exciting!! It's been so inspiring going along with you as you worked towards accomplishing each goal. Enjoy some time finding again your joy and passion, I am sure it will serve to make you a better doctor by taking care of your own needs before committing to attending to others. Stay safe on your travels!
Wow, so exciting! I wish both you and Mark nothing but the best on this amazing and well deserved new life journey!
I don't know what to say! You're phenomenal Siobhan! đ„łđ You and Mark deserve this. Enjoy your accomplishments and have fun â°ïžđ¶ââïžđđ¶đŒ
I'm so excited about âourâ new journey! Thanks for taking us along the way. I can't wait for all of it.
Iâm so happy for you! I hope that yâall are able to see all that you want to see and enjoy yourselves as much as possible.
First of all, congratulations on everything! You definitely deserve a break after such a long marathon. Your smile is so contagious from how happy you are about your upcoming journey! I just hope we get a glimpse of your amazing life.
So excited for all these videos! I hope you and your husband have the best time hiking together and make the best memories! xx
Thank you for sharing this adventure, these years have been amazing. You are a very good person and a hard working too.
I'm so incredibly excited for you Siobhan! Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Your videos never fail to inspire me!
I'm glad you guys are taking time for yourselves! Only share what you want and when you really want to, not if you feel you should. It can be a written post, a picture, maybe even a 5 second clip that you're not even in it's just the scenery. If you never share anything from this adventure that's okay too. You can't pour from an empty cup so it's really important to remember your goal in all of this. We'll still be here when you get back.
Congratulations! As a lupus patient, I appreciate you dedicating your lifeâs work to help improve our lives.
So excited for you, Siobhan! I wish the best for your hike and am excited to see your next videos! You rock!
I think it is absolutely wonderful that the two of you will be taking this time to nurture your souls and to enjoy the present moment after you both have worked so hard for years.
What initially caught my eye on your videos was your excitement and happiness when you talk. It is so rare these days. Good luck on your future endeavors!
I was just watching your old on-call vlogs for some inspiration and I see this on my notification - My day has been made! Huge congratulations on successfully completing residency!!
I am so happy for you!! We are so excited what happens on your journey and what other exciting things you discover about yourselves along the way
Hi Shiobhan!
I'm so excited and happy for you. You inspired many people such as myself to get into medicine (I just passed into the university this month, thank you for motivating me for the months of painful studying for it through your vlogs and videos).
Please enjoy your hiking adventure and greetings from Switzerland!
Siobhan, I am soooo happy for you and your husband. Iâm so excited to see new adventures! Congrats to your hard work and achievements. Canât wait to see more â€ïž
This is so insane, I am a medical student and I have been following you since you were in your 3rd-year residency, and I am very happy for you for achieving this great achievement. I am so proud of you for what you have gone through during your residency and also excited for your next journey 𧥠Lots of love from Cambodia
Absolutely awesomeee! Hope you both enjoy this plan and enjoy the time you spend there. Is absolutely necessary to celebrate those transitions and moments!
Wow! That's all so exciting! I'm really looking forward to seeing all you have in store for us! Be safe, have fun, and be blessed on your journey!
Hi Siobhan! I was so excited to see that youâd be shadowing flight paramedics. My uncle dedicated much of his life to the BC Ambulance Serviceâs Infant Transport Team, and flew thousands of babies from remote communities in BC to Vancouver hospitals. Hearing his stories put into perspective how crucial flight paramedics are in rural areas. Unfortunately, he passed away from cancer in 2016, but I think heâd be happy to know the visibility youâre giving to people like him, who worked a lesser known job within the medical field. I hope you have a lovely trip and I canât wait for what your future holds!
Iâve followed you for years, and I have been so excited for you since your passed your specialist exams! You earned it!
Congratulations on finishing your residency. You will be an amazing doctor. Be safe and have an amazing time abroad. You both deserve that âbreakâ so much. Thank you for all you do for all those in your community. Love from Minnesota!
Congratulations!!!!!!!! I canât believe Iâve been following you since you first started the residency. Your journey helped me to get a more realistic idea of the healthcare field and now Iâm going to pharmacy next year!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your journey and looking forward for your future videos!!!!!
Congrats! Sounds like an awesome trip! Iâd love to see more of Mark being a doctor too!!
Best of luck to you and Mark!! My family and I did the Inca Trail in Peru and that was the most difficult and life changing experience I've ever had.
Congrats on everything! Hopefully you'll take us along with you but either way - enjoy your time over there! :)
Amazing! All the best on your wonderful trip! You choose what you want to share with us. In the mean time, we will wait to see what you two have learned from your journey and your new adventures as practicing doctors. So happy for you both!! đ Safe travels...
Wow Siobhan, you have accomplished so much! Congratulations đ I am so happy for you and your husband on your forthcoming adventures âșïž canât wait to see all the new content. Thank you for sharing these times with all of us! You must feel so proud of yourself đâš
Congrats Violin MD!
God bless you!
The world needs more doctors like you.
Your plans sound wonderful! I did L.T. in a small outlying hospital that was part of the Mayo Clinic system while waiting to sit for my jurisprudence exam for Texas licensure (offered only twice per year). I loved seeing how other places do the same tasks, and the people I met there. You two stay safe out there!
How terrific, Siobhan! What a fun journey it's been to see you get to this place. I love your reflection and appreciate you sharing it.
I am so happy for you! I've also felt this way about finding a purpose for life and knowing myself again. I'm glad I'm not the only one đ
Always excited when I see your notifications. I'm so happy for you!! And wish you all very best for your future ahead đ
you are so awesome - I watched you in downtime during my entire nursing school journey. Share what you want! we would love to see your views and experiences but you never have to share more than what you want as far as the personal aspect. So happy for you - your hard work is paying off!! enjoy your time with your husband!! Your time in the rural villages and temporary places will be life changing I'm sure!
Sounds so very exciting! Hoping you enjoy your trip. Youâve worked so incredibly hard for so long. Thank you for enlightening us with your experiences! đșđșđș
So so excited for you and all thatâs coming. Love following along and learning from you. đ„°
I'm so happy for you! Have as much fun as you can... cause you truly deserve it. Can't wait to see the content you've prepared for us! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! You are a role model in every sense...!
Iâm an OT and very excited for you to shine light on this lesser known but valuable part of the rehab team. I also work in neuro-rehab! :)
I came here to say the same thing. Hi fellow OT!
I cannot express this enough, this is such an awesome and important move for you guys! When youâre young without kids, now is the time to go out there in the world and experience the most you can! Learn as much as you can- this journey will take you to places you never thought possible. So excited for your next journey!
Thatâs going to be so amazing! What a fantastic reset for both of you!!!! đ„° You are living the dream. I would love to see glimpses of your trip. I canât do anything like that, so Iâd love to see a bit of it through your eyes.
Yaaaaaaaaay! Congratulations! I canât believe Iâve been following you for so long back when I wanted to go to Med school. Iâve taken a break on school to pursue my business but watching you along the way has been beautiful. I feel the same way lol trying to figure out life more now than ever because I feel like Iâm close to 30 and want to make sure Iâm fulfilled and not just working until I retire. I want to enjoy it đ€âšalso itâs crazy youâre going to Italy. My neighbor and I talked about taking a trip two days ago.
Same here. I can't believe some us have been subbed THIS long
mozeltov that is great
@@MiguelRPD congrats i am very happy for you
I did two different 6 months trips through Europe when I was a little bit younger and a little bit older than you. It was the best thing I ever did in terms of getting a broader perspective on my life and the experiences i wanted to have moving forward. Saw some amazing things and met amazing people who Iâm friends with to this day. You will have the experience of a lifetime and you both more than worked hard enough to enjoy it before the next chapter begins.
Congrats, big congrats, Siobhan! You are the beautiful example for me to look up to, be motivated and follow.
Thatâs awesome for both of you! You definitely need a break & recharge after all that school. Iâm excited to see where you go and what you discover!
so absolutely happy for you!! rheumatology is so fascinating đđ
I am glad youâre taking the time off to be happy. Itâs a privilege you have earned with every exam you have taken, skill you learned, patient your wordâs have comforted and colleague whoâs work you have used your platform to draw attention too. After such intense work in recent years you deserve to play your violin and exercise and spend time with Mark. I hope you feel comfortable sharing small bits of your hiking but I will fully understand it if you want it to be private and I will look forward to seeing you back when you feel ready for CZcams again. Thank you for sharing your plans.
Congratulations đŸđđđ Iâve been following you since I started my Nursing school journey 4 years ago and I have to say watching your vlogs were so informative and helpful and got me through several moments in school đ„° Youâre an Amazingly driven individual and such an inspiration!! That trip sounds AMAZING and Very well deserved!! Stay safe! Canât wait to see what you do next!
I love you so much Siobhan!!!! Thank you for being such a light and inspiration!!
I'm really excited for your video about stroke rehab! I'm an occupational therapist at a sub-acute rehab facility and it always surprises me how few people know what my job entails. Working in a rehabilitation setting is so rewarding and I wish more people knew about it!
I know what you do for patients. Itâs incredible. My partner has leukaemia and then crashed with GBS twice. He learnt how to feed himself because OTs looked for ways to adapt spoons etc, to shave, to live and then to regain his Independence Day by day and thatâs thanks to people like you. So sincerely thank you.
Iâm so happy for you and your husband that you two are taking time for yourself. I hope you have an incredible time. As curious as I am, and would love to see the journey, I fully respect your choice to not share it. I hope it feeds your soul with all the things it needs â€ïž
Wow - you are incredible Siobhan! You are absolutely dead right to now take time to focus on yourself, so incredibly important. I look forward to watching you adventure on your new journeys! Love from Ireland. âšđźđȘ
So excited for you! Lived and hike throughout Europe for six years. Youâre going to have an amazing experience. You are remarkable and a true credit to your profession and generation of health care professionals. Looking forward to seeing upcoming videos of both your hiking adventure and your locums adventurous. As a former performing artist (ballet), would also love to see and hear more violin! All the best as you embark on this new chapter!
15 years is a crazy long time, I donât think I would have the patience đso proud of you!
As always, you make me smile :) I will be waiting for you in Bulgaria, check out Rila & Pirin mountains, 7 Rila Lakes especially! I am also so excited for whatâs about to come next as content in your channel. Thank you for all insights & inspiration â€ïž
Oo thanks for the suggestions!!
Congratulations you have worked hard to get to this stage. Your a true inspiration!
So excited for you! Very happy you are taking us with you and your husband. Being with the flight docs should be so interesting. I am grateful to learn new things as you go on your journey! Thanks for not leaving us behind. Happy Trails and Travel!!!!
Only halfway thru the video but I just want to say- SO ecstatic to hear you are taking a career break/travel break! I recently finished some school in January and did the same thing myself and Iâm just now getting back to re-entering the workforce full-time. I learned so many things about myself through this and found my personal (partial) answer of what makes life fulfilling. Still on this journey, today and everyday, redefining my personal definitions of joy, success and overall happiness/health (:
Enjoy your time together! Make memories! A world awaits, đ»Cheers!
Also, you are very lucky to have a partner that is willing and wanting to embark on such a journey with you! What a great life moment together.
I would love to see how this hike is going to look like and what answers to this important questions you will find. I was thinking of something similar myself and I'm sure I'm not the only one in this yt community. So I believe you could help a lot of us with sharing your personal story in the comming year đ
I stumbled across your channel several years ago and found your enthusiasm for medicine and path to becoming a doctor compelling. Congratulation on finishing the grueling schooling and training. I know it's not easy always being so upbeat and positive but you have always been a refreshing stop in the morass of CZcams content. Best wishes.
Congratulations Siobhan! Iâve loved seeing your informative, inspiring videos over the years
My friend did the hike through Europe thing. It led him to get his PhD and now he works with the CDC. đ I think this is a great plan!
Iâve know multiple Doctors personally through my life. Its so interesting to talk to someone and know that theyâre objectively smarter. It doesnât make me feel bad its just like, âyep, thats a high IQâ. Thats a feeling thatâs reinforced when watching you. Thoughts and feelings expressed eloquently through words. I think the things that you say are things most people feel but also lack the ability to verbalize it or to consciously reflect on.
I think that anyone is capable of becoming a doctor and that IQ is a very small factor in deciding intellectual ability. If you have a true passion for medicine (or whatever you want to be), and put in the effort and study time, youâll be able to become whatever youâd like.
@@thatguy720 not to be argumentative, but of you took a random sample of doctors, tested their IQ, and then compared that average to the national average, the doctors would score higher. IQ tests arenât perfect but its a standardized measurement. IQ I think is a good indicator of how quickly one can grasp new concepts. So in theory, someone of average intellect could become a doctor, but theyâd need to apply themselves more. Itâs also possible that intelligent is directly correlated to the ability to focus. Improving the ability to study.
@@sherbthesuperb3905 I 100% agree with you on that. But I also believe that IQ isnât something youâre born with, itâs something that you develop over time during the years of the most rapid learning (from when youâre a baby throughout middle and high school). Im sure genetics is an aspect of it as well but yes, theoretically anyone can become a doctor. Doctors would definitely score higher in IQ AND EVEN MORE IN EQ! than the average person, because the average the person doesnât work as hard as and challenge their brain as much as a doctor would.
The reason that I say IQ isnât necessarily a big factor in how sophisticated someone is to become a doctor is because there are so many doctors with mental âobstaclesâ such as ADHD or ADD which are conditions that pretty much eliminates all attentive properties and the ability to focus. These people usually score less than the average IQ score (100), but are still able to study and withstand the rigorous workload that pre - doctoral students must complete. Like you said, they are a good indicator of how quickly someone can grasp concepts, but thatâs only one skill a student may need to learn.
Thanks for chatting! đ
@@thatguy720 I didn't read everything because your first sentence opinion shows me enough that you have no clue of what IQ comes from. IQ is definitely a mix of nature and nurture. Meaning that you are born with a certain IQ(depending on genetics and conditions while being in mother's womb) and is also affected by the environment as you grow up. But, it is almost 50/50 where you are less likely to ever have high IQ if the conditions in mother's womb or genetics were bad no matter the living conditions.
@@josephdahdouh2725 If you read my entire comment you would see that I addressed later on that thereâs definitely some aspect genetics in your intelligence quotient. I do indeed understand how IQ works, but you arenât exactly born with a specific IQ. There are genetic factors that influence your IQ score but I also believe it heavily depends on your environment.
Saying I have no idea where IQ comes from is an ignorant move. Also, itâs far more agreed in the scientific community that IQâs aspects are far more Nurture than Nature. There have been numerous studies done to prove this and you also just said something that sounds like you think womb development is nature rather than nurture. Genetics is only pre-developing, meaning that once you start gestation in the womb, thatâs NURTURE. Regardless, I hope you have a great day.
Wow how exciting! I really appreciated hearing your thoughts and feelings Siobhan, I can totally relate to the sense of a transition period. I feel like traveling and especially the hiking is such an amazing way to spend it, so excited to see what you get up to! đ
I love to hear that you want to go to remote hospitals! I was doing some work in remote communities last month, and the need is unbelievable. I was only at the hospital for an afternoon but the need I saw had me speechless. Best of luck Siobhan! Iâm so happy for you!
I'm a lab technician at Stratford General...and I am SO EXCITED that you will be sharing experiences from these different roles. Especially the lab as we are all feeling awfully forgotten about right now.
I'm a lab tech too and I'm very excited! We often feel forgotten... I feel that it is worst now with the COVID. On lab tech week this year, my government said something like "thank you for your hard work with COVID testing". Like what?? We do waaay more than that and people don't even know đ
Thank you for your service
@@karinegendron2695 thank you so much for what you do
Girl I remember watching one of your first videos when I was 11. Iâm almost 17 now. Iâm just blown away by the amount of passion and accomplishment
Thatâs awesome! Your CZcams video was the first medical channel I subscribed to and inspired me to change careers, so itâs nice to see what youâre up to now that youâre done with your residency. Good luck and safe travels! đ
GOOD FOR YOU!!! You have worked extremely hard to get to this point and I think itâs a smart choice for you and your husband to take this time for this incredible adventure All the best and congratulations!!!
Great aspect on life. As a composer, strangely, I see many talented musicians pursuing medicine, like yourself. If you ever want new music, I would be happy to provide you with the music that I have written for violin.
I am currently getting my Masters degree in Music for Film and Television.
Anyway, congratulations on all of your dedication. It's amazing and such an honor how upfront and honest you are with your journey.
I already miss âHey guys Iâm Siobhan a 5th year medical residentâ đđđ

Why did I read Siobhan as Sebastian
Ive been watching your channel since your first year residency. Itâs crazy how much work youâve put into something youâre passionate about. It Not only shows me that itâs possible but it also motivates me to love the medical field despite the bad administration. Thank you for your videos and canât wait to see you and your husband taking this time off to reset⊠sending love
Siobhan, you are so amazing. You have such a clear thought pattern and are so mature. I am so proud of you and LOVED watching you grow over the years! Have a great time with Mark. You both have earned it.
