You could get the exact same result with a modded plastic/wood sliding tile puzzle and an app on your phone that gives you the layouts and the timer
Ye this was level 9 of 511 so I tried some harder levels and gets much trickier but still achievable at the top end. It does have some cool features, all pieces are magnetic so stick nicely and everything is in the once place making it handy but of course ye you could create a similar thing like you say. I have to admit to playing this a lot since I got it as quite satisfying to work through the levels.
