I saw this show in Oakland Ca. Fantastic. Especially liked the opening Come Talk to Me.and Steam. Damn the whole thing was spectacular. Pater Gabriel put in one hell of a show.

this song was written about the condition of women (especially in Africa), where the male is dominant. this song calls for a certain revolt on the part of women. The tree represents the male organ, erected ... that we come to destabilize (change traditions, put women at the same level as men).

You got it. The song's a call to women to fight chauvinism. The studio version, a duet with African singer Youssou N'Dour, is great too. Great to see Tony Levin, one of the world's top bass players, in action, too. Another Peter Gabriel song worth reacting to is the live version of "Biko" - a lament for a South African who died during the fight against apartheid. Live versions have so much power, it can be like being hit in the heart by a hammer of love.
Paula Cole can saaaaaang...I wish there was a recording of her on this where you could hear her better. This is an incredible tribute to Women. Happy International Women's Day/Month everyone!

I’m not a big Peter Gabriel fan, but I’ve seen this live show and it’s incredible, and this was my favorite song they did. If you ever get the chance to watch the entire show, do it!
Tony Levin doubles the coolness factor of any group of people just by walking into the room.
This entire concert, they give off such strong feelings of happiness and joy, it literally transfers to the audience and even to those of us watching it on a screen. This is my favourite song in the Secret World concert, I love that Gabriel recognizes the women in his audience should be strong and happy in all that they do. Look at everyone on stage smiling!
This whole show is glorious, just look at the fun they're having performing this fantastic music. I've been to quite a few PG gigs and I always came away feeling that humanity has a chance.

This is my favourite version. I play it for my daughter all the time. I grew up listening to Peter Gabriel and Genesis, also Kate Bush qnd many others..now my daughter will ❤. Thanks for doing this one!
I've been to dozens of gigs from Floyd, The Who and The Stones to The Eagles and Bob Marley and Cliff Richard But PG's were unique they felt like a bunch of mates getting together and jamming brilliant

Ha! You found Peter! Enjoy the ride! He’s got a rich and deep catalog. His concerts are moving sensory experiences that are interactive much like this song was with some surprises but never a drop in the quality of music for the sake of show. In Your Eyes and Sledgehammer were probably his biggest hits and his live vid of the former is a must see. Others are Solsbury Hill, Shock the Monkey, Rhythm of the Heat are just a few.

Not this tour but before: 'Security tour,' truly amazing then 'growing up' just epic! and lastly with Sting ' rock , paper, scissors ' tour. excellent. Definitely world class stuff. Not for all, but always got something to captivate all.
You have to watch the performance of the song Secret World from this tour of the same name. It’s one of his most beautiful and haunting songs and the live performance is EVERYTHING.

I’m just in awe. I remember him from the 80’s and thought he was great but had other bands I was into. Can someone tell me when exactly Peter turned into one by of the coolest mf’ers out there? You can’t imagine how much I regret not following him more closely from the early days. Thank you for introducing me to Peter 2.0! I’ve gotta deep dive now.

Peter Gabriel is big into World Music. Several songs with African styles.
One of my biggest regrets is not seeing Peter Gabriel the last time he was in Seattle (like 15 years ago or more). The tickets were hella expensive and sold out instantaneously. He's a legendary musician and I love how much thought and fun he brought to his performances.

I was in the 4th row from this round stage for this concert. It remains THE BEST concert experience I've ever had. The opening song was "Come Talk to Me" Just pure MAGIC from the start.

This whole concert is amazing, I for one would watch you react to every song from the concert lol...But one of my personal favourites is San Jacinto, it's a very emotional song about how the heritage of the Native Americans has been lost in modern America... Peter Gabriel was a great supporter or Amnesty International and became the ambassador for Amnesty International. A lot of his songs have very emotional and tragic back stories. Biko is another song that makes me cry, its about Steven Biko a Black South African who was murdered by the police during the apartheid era.. if you could review either of these songs from this concert I would be very honoured and happy,, much love from Wales UK x

Loved your reaction to this song!! Watching your face as first your expressions were like "what is this... what is this about?" and then watching you ease into it and express joy. Priceless! I had the good fortune to see the "Secret World" concert in Philadelphia. It was the most amazing and life affirming concert of my life. I wish I could relive that experience. Check out the whole Secret World Concert as what you just experienced was only an appetizer. People will recommend the obvious hits from Secret World like "In your eyes" and some others. However, if you want a real treat watch/listen to "Blood of Eden" and "Talk to me" along with "Don't give up". Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything from the Secret World album.
Six of the African continents greatest musicians and performers were on this 93 tour and parts of tribal dances and languages in the performances ...

Oh you discovered peter ... he is a genius that ppl never could even recognize.. check out his 7/4 time signatures... his music is like no other... check out 'games without frontiers' or ' on solsbury hill' this man even made his own vid game back in the day of abstract puzzles to find the lost chords and remake the song of life to save a universe... Gabriel thinks in music.. he is not like us, and he is brilliant. ♥ please explore him.. 'Games without frontiers'.. this is all before he became the genius behind a band you might have heard of called 'Genesis' .....

Peter was always good. You might want to play Pete’s song “Biko”. It was one of best political songs. The song Is about Steven Biko, who along with Nelson Mandela, brought. Freedom to South Africa. He was assassinated.
