My Number Two…one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Then followed by Hometown…so moving.

Always admired Joe's incredible musical range. Hard to believe it's the same person performing "I'm the Man" and "Steppin' Out."

Running commentary; 1) Wow. "Steppin' Out" ended on quite the shiver. 2) Who thought of this format, with interviews interspersed with the music? Ah, it's not terrible, & the interviewer at least asks relevant questions. So it's not just a sad attempt to make talk seem important.
    3) _Yes!_ Having *the **_crowd_** ask questions* in between songs is good. People forget what they were thinking five minutes before. Now I'm _happy about_ the format.
    4) I always feel that he's doing something structurally clever with the solo on "Be My #2" but I don't know what it is. I could be wrong, but he either is, or he keeps screwing up the key changes live.
    5) 2nd interview; I was _hoping_ he was going to end answering the question about changing the song arrangements by volunteering Catherine to play "I'm The Man" on the cello. Complete with "guitar" solo. Forget what Joe said about expectations, wouldn't _MY FACE_ have dropped if they'd _DONE_ that?
    6) Even though I never interpreted IDFG the way Joe intended it, it is THE first radio song I can remember appreciating strictly for something happening in the music. It's like the bass & guitar switched roles, & the bass was playing off of the solid ground the guitar laid down.
Any way you slice it, Joe's songs always seemed to contain *something* other artist's music didn't. Other bands could stand out for having the right image (Led Zeppelin for instance).
But with Joe, even if you didn't always understand what it was, it always felt like he'd put more into it than "this is catchy."
    7) This was _WAY_ too short.

Really loved this version of Love Got Lost. You can tell it’s not the best key for his voice but when he reaches for those high notes in the bridge…so powerful and moving.

I saw him at UWO, in Massey Hall, Exhibition Stadium, and Queens University in the same week in the fall of 1982.
    Now I'm 60. ugh.
